> 3 dayThis printer was defective right out of the box. As soon as I plugged it in, a PLEASE WAIT notification started blinking on the LCD screen and a motor kept cycling on and off. The on/off button failed to work. I unplugged the printer, plugged it in again, and the PLEASE WAIT message started blinking along with the brief motor cycling sound. The printer wouldnt connect with my computer, either. I couldnt find anything about this PLEASE WAIT error in the troubleshooting guide, and when I waited online to chat with a tech at the Brother website, I got dumped from the queue after 15 minutes. There is no phone number to call. My last Brother printer was dependable and lasted for nine years. Apparently something has changed and quality control and customer service are no longer priorities.

> 3 dayPoor print quality with Google Cloud Print. This issue is not specific to this model. According to various posts several models of Brother printers are affected by fax like quality when printing through Google Cloud Print. Its very noticable on even the simple printout like the spreadsheet attached to this review. Its really sad because overall this is a very nice printer. It was easy to setup, it prints super fast. But my main use case is printing via Google Cloud Print so for me this printer is no good. Returning it.

> 3 dayHave use Brother monochrome laser printers for years in my legal business. I recommend them because they can use high volume toner cartridges which I get from a reputable supplier with good non-brand name products at an extremely reasonable price. I print out a lot of documents, legal research materials, etc. and dont like spending excessive quantities of money on high cost toner cartridges from traditional office supply stores.

> 3 dayAn upgrade from a previous model of about 5 or more years. This one also appears to be a solid buy. Cant say enough about the small footprint, great print quality and speed, other upgrades and a lot of bang for the buck.

> 3 dayAfter twelve years my old Brother laser printer died. I wanted the same but they are no longer made. Yet for half the price, I got the latest, though larger, printer from Brother to replace my most reliable printer in my office. Hard to believe that my first laser printer 30 years ago cost a couple of thousand and put out 4 ppm after it took several minutes to compile a page. This one was less than a couple of hundred and spits out pages by the ream!

09-04-2025This is my fourth Brother laser printer. All these printers do their job well, rarely calling attention to themselves. It doesnt get much better than that. Paper jams are very rare and the duplex mechanism works well. Envelopes feed through well. Text is uniformly sharp and clear (I always use the highest quality setting). I dont have much experience with the fancy features of the software such as Air Print. But the basic software works flawlessly. I am suspicious of the word Business in the name of this product. The implication is that the printer is built tough to survive use by indifferent or careless people. Well, thats my interpretation anyway. This printer is certainly of a high quality, but the plastic parts are thin and bendy. I expect my Brother printer to last forever. In a business environment, I am not so sure.
