Weve bought four of these, in six months only 2 are still working. Buy an HP instead!

This thing is always printing out books worth of stuff and I hardly ever have to change the toner. Its good stuff. It has only jammed three times during the year weve had it, and that is VERY good.

I have a home base business and use two printers. This is my main workhorse and I particularly like it since they finally designed it to accommodate a full ream of paper (500 sheets) instead of a puny 250. Its advertised as a business printer so at least 500 sheet capacity makes sense. It has worked flawlessly so far .

I bought this printer based on the reviews. When trying to set it up for the first time, there was an instant error/jam message to check the printer. After not being able to fix my brand new printer, I went out to Office Max and found another Brother printer HL-L6200DW which is just like this one but bigger (and wasn’t as expensive). I was relieved to find that the one from Office Max works GREAT! Amazons return policy with the vendor was a breeze. Perhaps if this printer didn’t arrive to me broken, I could have given it 5 stars because I am glad that I went with Brother. The wireless feature is easy to use. It’s automatically set up to print double-sided. Black ink only. Does not scan. Can adjust the tray to print legal size. Sleep mode. Printed up to 1,000 pages when I got the “toner low” message.

The printer leaves lots of grey smudges on the paper. At first I though it was just a problem with the starter toner cartridge that was sold with the printer. The Brother HL-L5200DW Laser Printer replaced a Lexmark E260DN. The Brother HL-L5200DW does everything the Lexmark E260DN did and more. LAN setup was easy. I did not setup WiFi.

This is the first negative review I have had the unhappy pleasure of posting. I have downloaded the latest driver and firmware for this printer, but it will not print Adobe Acrobat files properly. Prints gibberish. I spent an hour on the phone with Brother and their final recommendation was to contact Adobe as it was their problem. There is no phone support for Adobe Acrobat Reader, so simply out of luck. If this is an issue for you, I would stay away from this machine and the other newly released products in this of series. Otherwise I have found no other issues with the printer. Until the Adobe issue is fixed I cannot recommend this printer. Update 11/30/16 This problem has finally been resolved, but not without frustration. I finally gave up on phone and email support, but instead contacted Brothers headquarters directly. Within twenty minutes I received a phone call from their techincal group who accessed my computer, troubleshot the problem, and came up with a solution within five minutes. It had something to do with the bon jour connection between my computer and the printer. He helped me install the product by accessing the printers address directly. The printer has worked flawlessy from that point on. As I previously noted, the printer was great, I could simply not print PDF files. I can now recommend this printer and gave it five stars.

I bought this printer hoping that a laser printer with a positive reputation would benefit my business. Unfortunately, from the first print job I have had nothing but trouble. Each print job increases the toner mess and smudges every paper. I went through the cleaning process as outlined and it helped for one print job then the smudges began appearing again, getting worse each print job. This was a colossal waste of money for my business.
