> 3 dayThis printer broke a month and a half after I bought it. It no longer takes the paper I load into it properly, and is unable to print anything. Ive gone back to using my last printer, and now Im wondering why I upgraded in the first place.

> 3 dayPrinter works fine. I have two other of these same printers on my other computers, and I am able to use the same ink cartridges on all of them. Thats a big plus.

Greater than one weekWaste of time & money. I got this printer because I just needed a home printer to print out maybe 10-15 pages a MONTH. Not a lot. The cartridges that came with it didnt last long, but I expected this as the ones they include are usually smaller capacity. Since the replacements were almost as expensive as the printer, I refilled the cartridges, and they worked fine. About 2 weeks later, I went to print again, and the printer said both carts were of ink... they werent. Apparently, the cartridges have a chip on them that tells the printer they are out of ink, regardless of how full they actually are, making it unable to print. Another way to make sure you spend dollar after dollar on refills from Canon. I used to like Canon... I always thought their prints looked better than HP or Epson. But this move just smacks of greed.

Greater than one weekThe detail is great, even with printing xrays. However, if you print photos a lot, realize that you will need to purchase another within 12-15 months. There is a part called an ink collector which gathers dried ink from cleaning the printer heads after every print (This is what makes such awesome photos.). Laypeople cannot dump it; only an authorized Cannon Maintenance Individual can get into this sucker and dump it. If you are a corporation on a regular route with a Cannon maintenance person, then youll probably be OK. We are a small office and cant afford to have a Cannon Rep on retainer. A one-time maintenance visit to dump out the ink collector costs 150.00. Since the printer is 140.00, I call this a disposable printer.

> 3 dayI bought this printer in 2009 before college, and boy did I love it! I still do love it, and I plan to take it with me to grad school. I am sure in the past 5 years of use, this printer did stutter and jam several times... but for the most part, my impression of my printer is a positive one. I got this for less than $100, so I think I got this for a bargain. I guess the price went up. This printer is not the fastest, but it got the job done. You have to manually manipulate the papers and printing settings to get double-sided printing (which I made mistakes with several times). The printing quality was very much sufficient for essays and lecture notes with images. I am too cheap to use expensive ink to print photos with this, but I am sure people liked it for its intended purpose. It is loud when it prints, so if you live in a 3-person, tiny dorm room like I did freshman year, late-night printing would be a bit rude. Love this printer, and i hope I can keep using it!

> 3 dayNo issues. Owned one of these for years and it finally died. This was a perfect replacement.

Greater than one weekWhile went to buy the Ink for my HP Photosmart printer, I noticed this printer from Canon for just $30 and bought this one without any second thought ($30 is way cheaper than the HP inks). Installation went without an issue on my Vista PC, and I am not finding printing speed an issue. So far so good. I prefer to stay with Canon than HP for following reasons. 1) HP uses color ink even when choosing black printing. Though I print black and white prints, but HP makes me to buy color inks more often than b&w 2) HP expires the ink after some period. HP wants to generate constant money flow, but IMO this is not a way to do. Thanks Suriya.

> 3 dayI bought this printer about 3 yrs ago for $30 at Wal-mart, and at the time I thought maybe I should buy a all-in-one instead. But now Im really satisfied with this product. I guess whether the product will continue working is dependent on users using manner. I think Canon has some very good products. I bought a printer for about 3 yrs, a copier for about 2, and both still work properly.

> 3 dayThe new printer straight out of the box showed a jam signal. The Canon service technician on the phone could not help us. We are suppose to find a Canon service dealer and have them repair it.

> 3 dayIm disappointed! After reading many reviews and all the technical specifications, I did not foresee this difficulty. Today I purchased this machine to install on my Macintosh, operating system OS X.4, which all the specs say is compatible, but the installation CD states that it will work only with operating system OS X.5. So now what? Back to the store I go, I guess. False advertising Id call it.
