Waste of time & money. I got this printer because I just needed a home printer to print out maybe 10-15 pages a MONTH. Not a lot. The cartridges that came with it didnt last long, but I expected this as the ones they include are usually smaller capacity. Since the replacements were almost as expensive as the printer, I refilled the cartridges, and they worked fine. About 2 weeks later, I went to print again, and the printer said both carts were of ink... they werent. Apparently, the cartridges have a chip on them that tells the printer they are out of ink, regardless of how full they actually are, making it unable to print. Another way to make sure you spend dollar after dollar on refills from Canon. I used to like Canon... I always thought their prints looked better than HP or Epson. But this move just smacks of greed.

For the price, its worth it. Pros: - Decent quality. - Price: I bought mine from Wal-mart for $29.95. Cons: - NO paper tray. Which means that once it is done printing each page, that page will fall to the floor. - Ink. I spend $35 per set (1 color, 1 black cartridge). They dont last long. I had a 250 page report to print out (no color, all black and white text) I put in brand new cartridges before and did not get through the entire thing. So it took me 2 of each to do 250 pages. I know other brands like HP you can get more out of for less money. Do the research before you buy. Look at the cost of the printer AND the cost of the ink. If the manufacturer does not tell you how many pages each cartridge will print; keep looking.

I bought this for my wife who was always having trouble with her HP printer. I myself have a Canon Pixma iP6000D and have had great success with it. The iP2600 is smaller, simpler and good-looking in black. And works just as well.

I actually bought this printer at Wal-Mart, before looking at any of these reviews. When I got home I checked them out. They seem to be totally mixed, and its hard to tell if the darn thing is any good or not. I started thinking, What kind of a piece of **** have I got here? Im glad to see I was very wrong. Its light years faster than my old HP 5550, and works like a charm. The first time I printed something I though it was just spitting a blank test page through first. Much to my surprise there was actually something printed on it. My old hp used to take a good 90 seconds to chug a page through, and I can see that this printer and I will be great friends. I havent really had a chance to test it with photo, but its not something I do much of anyway. (Insert blatant promotion of costco here, who charges 12 cents a print online and mails them back to me for free) The whole machine cost less than a new color cartridge for my HP, which was why we were at the Wal-mart in the first place. To anyone who isnt looking for a lot of bells and whistles, this is definitely the way to go. Its a boring black printer that does its job perfectly.

    Greater than one week

I bought this printer from Walmart for about $30 or so. Canon did a terrible job with this printer! It does print, and it can print some nice photos - not top quality but decent and usable. Its not really fast, but its not horribly slow. One thing to note - it has a design flaw - there is only one side of the paper tray that has a feeding mechanism and its faulty. It complains it has no paper constantly and may print crooked if not babysat. If I had more money at the time, I wouldnt have bought this printer, I would have purchased a different brand or a different model. The saying applies here - you get what you pay for. Ive had it for about a year and Im tired of fighting with it. I hate this printer!

Ive been using Canon printers happily since the very first Bubble Jet. Over the years I learned how to use bulk ink, relatively inexpensive non-OEM cartridges, etc. Ive used a few HP printers, but they always seemed to develop hardware or other problems after a year or so. So I picked up the ip2600 for general use, mainly in my home office, where I simply want something to print documents (usually in fast mode greyscale). Occasionally something in color. When I want to do prints I use an ip3500, in the basement, which does a much better job. This printer will take you to the poor house. It goes through these tiny and over-priced chipped cartridges at a stunning rate. The overall quality is pretty good. Not brilliant, but certainly passable. But, holy cow, Canon has joined the rip-off ranks. So, now this one goes to the basement for emergency purposes only. Come on guys, if youre going to do these chipped cartridges, at least make them with decent capacity at a fair price.

For the life of me, I cannot believe that Canon did not include a printer tray on this printer. This means that whenever you print from this, it doesnt have a nice sheet coming out from it like the picture but spits out your documents all over the ground. Furthermore, the cartridges are tiny. These small little cartridges hold such little ink and constantly need to be replaced and always seem to be drying out and need to be cleaned using the software included with the printer. The catch? Cleaning uses up ink. I am a college student that prints documents and no color, but apparently I cleaned the cartridges enoguh that the color cartridge became empty and it stopped printing until I replaced it. I have always felt that printer companies are like drug dealers, they try to hook you with a cheap printer and then hit you with the expensive cartridges later. This is really just about as bad as it gets with an inkjet printer. I know its a bargain-basement deal, but Canon really cuts corners on this thing way too much. Stay away if you want to protect your sanity. I am writing this at 3am in the morning because my printer, which has two recently replaced cartridges, wont print properly and my documents are all splotched.

Ive only used this printer a couple of times, but so far I love it. I love the overall appearance of the printer. The ink cartridges were a little hard to get in the first time, I almost gave up. Print quality is better than the previous printer I had. Very easy to set up. It does take awhile for it to begin printing documents, I wait almost a minute before it begins to print. Overall for the price and quality of printing, I would give this computer a B.
