You can start this game at around 8pm and before you know it, it’s 3am. You’re exhausted, dehydrated, yet still excited to destroy your friends at this game. 10/10 would recommend.

I love this game and I havent played since college. I am having some guys over this weekend and I decided to order this to setup. The box is more sturdy then most games now a days and it is packaged very well. You have to pop out all the land pieces and sort the houses and roads. There is a very descriptive guide book with a set of rules and an almanac for looking up specific information so you dont have to sort through the rules. They also have built a phone app that lets you learn the game on your phone by playing so I sent them the link to that and they learned ahead of time since theyve never played before. The game itself has a sort of Civilization, turn based strategy sort of feel to it. There is no direct fighting, but you gather resources to build your empire and trade with other people. You have to try to balance the trades because you need to help yourself without helping others too much. I wouldnt suggest this for a casual board game player, it is a bit more involved, but it doesnt take too much to learn it and there is a high ceiling for skill once you get the hang of it. So people who love strategy will go crazy. One of my favorite games of all time and this version was well done.

Love this game, super addicting. All the pieces came exactly how you’d expect them to. It may take a little bit for new players to learn, but if you like strategy games this is for you.

Got my fifth edition on 10/21/2016. Everything was in box that was supposed to be. Cut pieces were centered! Never played before, had really never heard of it until a week before! Me and my wife learned and played first game in less than 2 hours. Played multiple games over the weekend, we are hooked! Great game, lots of replay ability. Did i mention we are both 60... Will be picking up an expansion some time.

Wondered if this game would live up to the rave reviews—it surpasses them! My kids joke that we no longer have a kitchen table, we have a Catan table (because we haven’t put it away since the day after Christmas when we first played). It is the rare game that has my 14 yo daughter, 17 and 20 yo sons and my husband and I all obsessed. It is somehow competitive and relaxing all at once, and awesome sit around the table together time. Buy it now, you will not be sorry!
