> 3 dayHave you ever played Risk back in the day? Well, this game is similar and just as much fun! Surely you dont want to miss out on this fun game that can keep you entertained for hours. There are even add on editions, so that you can play in a larger group. A wonderful gift for children and adults a like. There is fun strategy and the game seems to change up on you every time because of all the strategies that each player brings to the table.

> 3 dayThis is a quality built game. The pieces are solid and sturdy. The game is fun, but has a little learning curve. Only for 2-4 players.

Greater than one weekThis is by my far my favorite game. It’s a 4 player, but they have expansions to add more. It’s light hearted yet still fiercely competitive. You’re either a sheep hoarder, and army builder or Jonesin for the longest road. First person to 10 points wins and there is a multitude of ways to get to 10 points. Great for all ages and a great intro game for those that are looking to stray away from the classics

Greater than one weekCatan is simply one of the simplest historically themed resource games around. Takes up little space (a card table size area) and only suitable for 2-4 players. Three to four is best considering the options that the game creates on its randomness. That is the charm of the game: not overly complex, simple rules and random configurations helps keep the game on a level playing field for all ages (suggest 7-8+). Can be mixed with other games (take Diplomacy theme and apply it to resourcing...likely why there is a GOT, Roman, Barbarian, Viking, etc. versions). Small enough to fit in a day-pack or book-bag and road/hotel worthy.

> 3 dayThis was a great Christmas gift for my youngest brother after he played once and loved it. We always enjoy playing Settlers, especially during a holiday weekend, and I hope he gets many years of play out of it.

Greater than one weekThe game looks like fun but the instructions are woefully inadequate and assume and awful lot of knowledge for first time players. We had to go online and do a tutorial before we could figure out how to play. We would have preferred to be able to have enough instructions to be able to play right away or at least know in advance that wed have to go online and do a tutorial. Also the game was in brand new packaging with missing pieces which made understanding the directions even more difficult. We thought we new what the road pieces were but the instructions said to take 15 of them in your color. Since there were only 14 of the orange and the blue pieces, this made it even more confusing and more difficult to get started. We had to paint two of the extra red and white pieces (we had 16 each of them) before we could get started. At this point, we still havent been able to actually play the game since were still learning how to get started. Once we watched a tutorial and figure out how to play, it was a lot of fun and were looking forward to getting better at strategy.

> 3 dayLOVE this game! We quickly learned the rules which, to my old head at least, at first sounded rather complicated - its anything BUT. Lots of fun to get the family around a board game again, and away from the video games and cell phones. The strategy is simple: collect resource cards (sheep, brick, stone, straw, and lumber) in order to build settlements, expand roads, and eventually build cities. Resources can be traded with other players and rewards can be claimed (longest road, largest army) and as you work your way through the process of developing the land, the first player to reach ten points wins. This is perfect for three to four players; five or more players can play as well, but the game play is pretty crowded and fast at that point, so you would be well advised to purchase the extension pack at that point. My initial thought when looking at this game was that the price seemed a bit high for what I thought was a complicated Parcheesi (hah!) but we played a couple of games with my daughter and son-in-law, and we were hooked. Set aside an hour or two for a game, but dont be surprised to find youve spent six hours on three or four games. Its addicting, and its a blast.
