> 3 dayThis is a great umbrella for sun protection. It does a good job of keeping you cool. However, I wanted a light umbrella and the weight in the description is inaccurate so its a bit heavy to carry on my morning walk in addition to a water bottle. On my kitchen scale the weight reads 1 lb 8 oz.

> 3 dayIt definitely blocks the heat- there is noticeable difference in temperature under the umbrella. The umbrella is a little heavy but the heat block outweighs the weight.. Highly recommend

> 3 dayFor the price I expected something more sturdy. Kinda awkward length would have been better if it was a bit longer but I needed it to travel. Im going to look into the next size up thats longer and has a handle

> 3 dayThis is the first umbrella I have purchased for shade protection. It really does help! I live in Arizona, so I was skeptical that it would make much of a difference, but it does! I also love that the silver exterior makes it feel a bit less odd walking in the sunshine with it. :) The handle has a comfortable grip, and it closes small enough to stash in your purse or briefcase. I only wish that it was a bit easier to close, as it takes strength to compress the metal rod back to its smaller size (which is required to then activate the button to open it again). Even with that downside, I would purchase this again or recommend for friends and family, as it really does help counteract the intensity of the sun. Coolibar is one of the few companies endorsed by the Skin Cancer Foundation. Be wary of cheaper imitations, as they are often made of subpar materials that dont truly block UVA and UVB rays.

Greater than one weekIt really is SIGNIFICANTLY cooler under one of these! Great product. If it wasnt so bulky id still be using it. I switched to the EuroSchirm Lite Trek umbrella instead. But my husband absolutely loves his Coolibar.

> 3 dayI dont want to be quarreling by responding to previous comments regarding this made in China stuff and its quality. The first thing is that the manufacturer doesnt decide how something is made and how good it is. Its the company in US that makes deal with Chinese factories because of their cheap labor expense. keep judging things regarding where something is made is just too redneck. so I dont think its the reason for the umbrellas quality. Tell Coolibar what you think about this umbrellas designd instead of offending others with ignorant complains. Ive been used to the idea of sun umbrella which means not for rainy and windy days. I read all comments before I made the purchase. Now I have been using the umbrella for weeks under Texas sun and it feels so much better with a walking shade. its not huge, but sufficient for individuals. make sure you face the exterior towards wind, and it should be ok. I like the deep shade it provides; really cools you down. its easy to pack to go, but if you want a more solid one get the golf umbrella.

> 3 dayI live in Texas and use this umbrella every single day. It really keeps the sun off and provides shade while talking my daily walk. I walk about two miles every day and just had too much sun on my head and face. This is instant shade. I love it.

> 3 dayThis is a quality umbrella with good sun coverage. I live in Arizona and it feels cooler under this umbrella vs. a normal umbrella.

Greater than one weekWith 350 days of sunshine each year, I am thrilled to find something that will protect me from the Tucson desert rays, and keep me cooler on my walks to the campus shuttle bus. I have been using for 2 weeks Not recommended for our windy days, but other than that, I am glad to have this umbrella. Noticed another person with same umbrella the other day, walking across campus. We both agreed this is a great product!

> 3 dayI have 2 of these umbrellas & wish Amazon would make me an offer to get another one of them. With all the recent negative reviews, Im hesitant to spend $48. I had planned to get one for a friend, but feel hesitant because of all the recent negative reviews. They werent available for awhile - backordered, and wish I could feel certain the ones now available wont have the problem with the release button mentioned in reviews. I purchased one directly from Coolibar several years ago for $35. Its still functional, though one of the little black support pieces broke after a couple years - but my grandkids were pretty rough with it, so Im ok with that. I got another one via Amazon in July of 2015 for $45 and use it for rain, snow and sun. So far, so good - no problems at all. I love this umbrella - compact and its liberated me from the expense and discomfort of having to use sunscreen on my upper body, and from having to use a hat.
