It definitely blocks the heat- there is noticeable difference in temperature under the umbrella. The umbrella is a little heavy but the heat block outweighs the weight.. Highly recommend

Have had this umbrella for at least five years. It didnt feel sturdy, but it has lasted and is in good shape. I can tell the that it has better sun coverage when I have to use another type of umbrella. Its kind of heavy but folds small. Its such a good umbrella that I thought its only fair that I update my review.

Pretty great. I use it for walking in Florida and it helps me stay cooler. It does t open nicely tho. I have to give it a push to lock open. But still, I’d buy agaib

The handle was a little wobbly from the day 1, but I figured it should be OK, and it was; it blocked the suns rays nicely. That is, until late summer this year. It literally collapsed one day while in use, with a big BANG! Now it wont open. Automatic umbrellas mechanism tend to go before the rest of the umbrella, but really, you would think it should last a little longer at this price. Ive had a rain umbrella (with automatic mechanism) given to me as a free-bee live much longer than this. I think this one is overpriced for the quality. UPDATE: I contacted Coolibar; it turns out the umbrella is guaranteed for life. They replaced it for free. I have my finger crossed that this one wont collapse like the last one. (It was difficult not to have my best sun protection for a while.)

This was bought for the sunny California beaches, but the wind prevents the umbrella to function properly. Great for a non windy , no beach kind of day . Perfect just for rain umbrella.

I used it for 2 hot Houston summers already and just love it. It creates wonderful cool shade and protects against harmful rays. Thanks to it I still can walk after 10 am which I could not do before because of hot sun. I do not use it for a short walk though. For example, to a store, because it is rather large and rather heavy but for longer walks it is indispensable.

I wish I had something good to say, but I dont. I was so looking forward to using this umbrella, the summers here in Las Vegas are brutal. The problem with is umbrella is it flips inside out in a breeze and I not talking about a heavy duty breeze. I had to hold the strap to keep it from flipping, to no avail, it flip and broke the spine or struts or whatever their called, one of them just snapped, no support no good. I could try to super glue it, but that wont solve the main problem it flips constantly. I want to return it, but Coolibar.com wont except it, third party and Amazon wont pass 30 days, now I stuck with a piece of useless junk. I did read the reviews and I didnt see this issue, so I just say buyer beware.

Bought this umbrella Oct 2012 for month-long India trip and used daily. Hate sunblock and can get away with less because this provides so much protection. Seems to lower outside temp by 10-15 degrees, so not only protected but also lot cooler. Taken it on multiple international trips since and, in fact, currently on 10-day Jordan trip (Dead Sea today) and lifesaver yet again, given constant sun/heat. But this has been my go-to umbrella since purchase. Live in New England and have used it for rain, snow, sleet, sun. Its beginning to show some wear/tear, partly because of the nature of the silver coating and also Im not careful with it at all. Rarely use protective cover, as I should. Im giving it 4 star, but 4.5 if I could, but not 5 stars because it isnt perfect. A bit heavy and does turn inside out in high winds, but I can live with both minuses. When this one wears out, will buy another and try to protect it more.

This umbrella is a nice size and folds up to a compact size. Perfect for me since I get migraine headaches from bright sunlight and heat.
