Great umbrella, easy to travel with. it was nearly 100 degrees the other day and I was so thankful to have respite from the heat. A few people stopped me to ask where they could get this umbrella because everyone was wilting in the heat and I was in the shade! It was still hot but the sun was not beating down on me like it would have been if I hadnt had this umbrella.

I liked this umbrella for sun protection, but the quality is just not there. I used it for less than three months before the open/close mechanism fell apart and the umbrella went in the trash. With such a short life span, this is definitely overpriced. As others have said, it also does not withstand wind of any kind. Pretty disappointed, but still gave it 3 stars since it does a good job of protecting from sun and heat.

I have owned this sturdy umbrella for about a half a year now and have used it several times a day every day, rain and shine. I am extremely sun sensitive and it is a necessity for me. Even on UV 10 and 11 days I never burned or got sun itch. I have to complement the mechanism because for all times I have put it up and down it has always worked great. ( And easily.) If this one ever wears out I will definitely get another. I would recommend it to anyone as a great investment.

It definitely blocks the heat- there is noticeable difference in temperature under the umbrella. The umbrella is a little heavy but the heat block outweighs the weight.. Highly recommend

This umbrella worked well just for a few days after arriving. Then, it started closing itself and now it cant keep open for use anymore. Money wasted. This would be the second time I suffer a similar situation with these umbrellas.

The umbrella looks pretty nice. Once its folded up, the strap fastened and in its included sleeve its very handy to keep in the cars glove box and should fit in most purses pretty easily. The good: Looks great. Compact, the included sleeve makes it pack up very nicely. The bad: Very flimsy. I dont believe this was made for rain... with rain usually comes some wind and all the hard parts are made of cheap plastic, INCLUDING the handle and rod going to the top. There are 8 total ribs, but they are extremely weak. Do NOT buy if you want to use it for good rain protection, because a tiny bit of wind and it will collapse or break. Its not a big umbrella, so when the edges collapse in to where you see the second dome in the face of wind, your rain protection will be very small. The end of the ribs look like theyre made of an exceptionally weak fishing rod, because they bend easily and the rest of the ribs are plastic and thin, so even if they wouldnt bend the whole thing would just break anyway, so the designers im sure figured itd be better to not be functional in wind than to break entirely. Final thought: The only thing this is good for is for protection from the sun on calm days or light rain with little wind. If you need it for that, its a great umbrella, but dont bother for stormy weather. If Coolibar wants to make a great umbrella, they should really actually make certain parts out of Titanium so it lives up to its name in more than just color.

I have admired the sun umbrellas that I have seen used by travelers in the tropics, so finally ordered one myself for our next trip to Thailand. The Coolibar travel umbrella arrived today - just in time for the trip. But unfortunately there are two problems. First, the umbrella does not open properly. Pressing the push button, only partially opens the umbrella. To get the umbrella to fully open and to stay open, you must force the center mechanism up and down several times pushing it firmly against the end stop. Once it stops sliding backward, you must then pull down the sides of the umbrella, so that it is not partially inverted. This process is too cumbersome to open an umbrella. Second, it is difficult to hold the open umbrella because it is very top heavy and poorly balanced. It requires an awkward force to hold it at any angle other than completely upright. While the concept of this umbrella is a fine one, the problems with not opening properly and the poor balance lead to my rating is only 1 star.

This is a quality material and opens a closes well. It has a funky plastic fish smell. Hopefully as I let it air out it will go away.

This is a great umbrella for sun protection. It does a good job of keeping you cool. However, I wanted a light umbrella and the weight in the description is inaccurate so its a bit heavy to carry on my morning walk in addition to a water bottle. On my kitchen scale the weight reads 1 lb 8 oz.

I feel like a dandy whenever I take my umbrella to shield myself from the suns ray; but it works really well and I think I am on the cusp of a trend as summer simply turns into the heating season.
