This monitor is perfect for me. I prefer a more square-ish monitor rather than rectangular-ish but thats how theyre making HD monitors so thats something I just have adapt to and live with. The black frame and the screen are matte (thanks to all who answered my question), and measures 21 x 12, the screen measuring 19 3/4 x 11 1/8 inch. Its a very attractive piece that matches perfectly with my dell Windows 7 and Dell XP computers. Its adjustable up and down, left to right, landscape to portrait, tilt forward tilt backwards quite easily. The power button and others above it are push buttons. The white background is kind of bright but maybe thats HD for you. I didnt need to adjust any colors, I plugged the hdmi port into my computers hdmi port and the other end into the dvi port on the back of the monitor, hooked up the power chord, turned on my computer and the monitor and perfect picture is what I got, right out of the box. UPDATE: 5/27/18: Almost 4 years later and the monitor is still in excellent condition. I have not needed to make any service calls, have not had any issues.

So far so good. I just it hooked up yesterday. The factory settings has the screen way too bright and it had to be turned way down to even come close to my calibrated Sony monitor. I cant comment on the color accuracy until I get it calibrated, but based on a visual comparison w/ my calibrated Sony monitor, Id say it is much too bright and the colors are much too saturated, right out of the box. Works fine for its secondary purpose, which is watching movies from the computer.

I personally bought this monitor because I already had owned a 22 Dell monitor with the same rotating structure and I found it really useful for programming. I am currently using the Display Port output which is connected to my GTX 970. This monitor doesnt have HDMI, which I didnt care since Display Port is better, but may matter for someone else. It is definitely not the best option out there as far as monitors. Need an IPS 4K monitor? Look somewhere else. Need a rugged 1080p monitor that you can rotate the screen? Then get this.

Ive been using three of these for a few months now and Im very happy with them. I mostly use them for programming and gaming. They look great and I love being able to change their orientation easily. Portrait orientation is great for reading long documents or looking at source code, and the tilt and height adjustment is helpful to keep them in a comfortable position. I can easily view 3-5 source code files side by side on each of them. I mostly play Counter Strike and have not noticed any input lag, and Im pretty picky about that. There is no splash screen when you turn the monitors on. I like how configurable the monitor settings are. For example, you can make the power LED stay off while the monitor is on. I think smaller monitors (maybe 21 or 22 inch) might work better for a triple monitor setup because you wouldnt have to turn your head as much and they would take up less desk space, but these are great if you have a big desk. I have not been able to drive any of these monitors over VGA (I tried all 3 of the cables that came with them). The screen flickers and looks really bad. VGA isnt really meant to drive resolutions this high though, and it isnt a problem for me.

Actually, this is a very nice and clear monitor but you might want to think twice about buying it. We had Dell monitor fail after about 3 months and trying to get a warranty replacement is time consuming and I am still waiting for Dell to confirm that my Amazon purchase is legitimate. I buy a lot of monitors for my company and after this experience Im thinking about dropping Dell from the list of suppliers. The first thing youll find if you try to get support is that the Dell site asks you for your SERVICE CODE or EXPRESS SERVICE TAG number which monitors dont have and theres no way around this prompt. The only thing you can do is wait on the phone line and not enter answers to any prompts until a person answers the phone. Then figure on spending 40 minutes answering questions, sending proof of purchase, and another couple of days waiting for your purchase to be verified (Im still waiting). Like buying a car, the car can be wonderful but if the service/support stinks that youll hate owning it. Dell needs to get their act together if they are going to sell monitors.

This monitor is beautiful. Colors are vibrant and realistic. This monitor needed almost no adjustment from stock. I grabbed an ICC profile from a certain professional review site based in the UK and set custom color of 100/98/98, and everything looks perfect. The contrast ratio is high, around 1,100 native according to that same review site. Blacks are deep for this type of panel, which makes colors look even more strong. Motion is smooth and there is no ghosting. There is a touch of glow in the corners, which is normal for IPS/PLS monitors. It isnt very strong, however, and is only visible when youre watching dark scenes or playing dark games. The first monitor I received does have a slight backlight bleed in the bottom left hand corner that can mess with colors and black depth when the monitor isnt angled right. Ive since figured out how to position it ideally and it doesnt bother me. Its almost impossible to spot unless youre looking for it on a full black screen. The replacement I ordered was much worse, so I returned it and kept the original. Id advise anyone that orders one of these monitors (or any IPS/PLS monitor, given my experience with a few other monitors) to fill an image in Microsoft Paint with black, then full screen it so that the entire screen is fully black. If you see heavy glow anywhere, move your head so that youre viewing the area dead on, not at an angle. If the glow goes away, its just glow. If, however, some of it lingers, theres a backlight bleed there, and you have a decision to make - throw the dice and request a replacement, or give it a shot and see if you can live with it. This will only really be an issue if you use your monitor to play dark games (Dead Space, Metro) or watch movies on your PC. It might be problematic for people doing graphics work, too, but Id imagine theyd know how to work around it. Regardless, if youre a gamer or want to watch movies on your computer, Id check your screen for backlight bleeds first thing before getting too settled into it. IPS/PLS monitors seem to have a real problem with it because even a tiny backlight bleed causes heavy additional glow. That said, if you can get one of these that looks right, its a great monitor. Im fairly happy with mine. Its awesome in games. The only mark against it is the backlight bleed.

I am usually a Samsung TV/monitor guy, but since I trust Dell for my laptop and desktop purchases, I said why not ? Companies I have worked for, have purchased 100s of similar monitors from Dell. Also, since I was given a Dell sound bar (clips on the bottom of the monitor), it was a nice plus. It was well worth the price versus two 22 (or the like) monitors. The video quality is great !

I bought this monitor in used condition as a 2nd monitor to use for discord etc. while gaming on my main monitor. The monitor was shipped promptly and delivered before the expected delivery date and is in very good condition for a used monitor. Picture quality is great. You can use it in landscape or flip it 90 degrees to use in portrait mode, which I do from time to time for certain situations. I like that the buttons are on the front face so I can easily turn down brightness at night and turn it back up during the day. Ive had this monitor for over a month now and have had no issues so far. I use this 22 1080p monitor as a 2nd monitor with a 27 1440p as my main and it looks and works great side by side.

Great resolution and very easy to set up. screen rotation is very helpful for those big excel sheets your working on. Only annoying thing is you need to order the Dell NCW95 MN008 USB Computer Soundbar AC511 separate if you want sound. For what you are paying for the screen it should be included but they are both excellent products.
