I adore these pencils! They are rich, and creamy. The lead glides on the paper; effortlessly layering and blending with ease. If you have carpel tunnel or arthritis these are the pencils for you. The full set of 24 all work harmoniously together. The color palette was well chosen. You can choose any three colors with your eyes closed and the colors you choose will look wonderful together. If this set were to be expanded I would definitely add this additional set to my current one. I wasnt really sure of what they were about until one of my favorite colorists (coloring with Alena) started using them. I felt the price was good for a 24 set, and I will be purchasing a backup set. This is not a set you want to be without. Take a chance on them as I did and be pleasantly surprised!

These have to be one of my new favorite colored pencils ever. Ive been a colored pencil artist for over 30 years, I even still have a few of my 1980s Berol/prismacolor out of print colored pencils. I use A lot of different brands from Caran DAche to Schpirerr Farben & Castle Art on the lower range pencils. I have several Derwent colored pencils & when I saw the muted tones of these drawing pencils I had to try them & I fell in love instantly! First, they are the typical Derwent pencil with the thick lead & nice heafty round barrel. They go on so smoothly & they are a soft lead. You can get beautiful blends with these pencils & the Chinese white that comes in this set is the best white I have ever used! I love this white! I even bought the small 5 piece set just to get an extra white! The colors will compliment any of the other Derwent sets & any other set for that matter. Ive used them with my Prismas, Castle Arts, Caran DAche, Black Widows & Polychromos & they worked great with all of them!

These are interesting to work with. To me, they feel like a cross between coloring pencils and pastel pencils. In a way, they feel a little like graphite but harder. The color range is earthy and great for landscapes. I have so many Derwent products and am glad to add this to my collection.

Great pencils. Pigment is smooth and opaque. Will be a go to pencil for me. If only they came in larger sets (hint hints Derwent!)

Fur, feather, and nature lovers rejoice..! For years, I had used Derwents Chinese White colored pencil, because it was both opaque and lightfast. Then, about a month ago, I was watching some videos by an amazing artist, where she was using some of the other Derwent colored drawing pencils. I ordered and received them in perfect condition. They blend beautifully, and can be used with oms or powder blender. Theyre priced well, also.

I had watched a “Claudia Sketches” Youtube video, and she uses these as the base layer for her animal portraits because they go down so easily and blend so well. So I bought some. She was right. The set of 12 was fine for me because I am a portrait artist and do not need a lot of colors — Definitely a good purchase.

These are incredible! Vivid colors, they blend beautifully, and are perfect for animals and landscapes. I use these in conjunction with Derwent Inktense Pencils and, of course, Prismacolors. They go perfectly well with either. They go down very similarly to standard pencils, with an almost chalky feel, but on the paper they are incredibly smooth (Ive managed to get an almost painterly finish without a wash, especially with the lighter colors). If you draw animals, deserts, alien landscapes, or dark places, this will be an amazing set for you.

I love these pencils, especially the Chinese White! I use them with all my other color pencil sets, and the natural colors have really come in handy on my C.P. landscapes. While I love the bright colorful tints, and shades of other sets, they are often lacking these muted natural colors that come in the Derwent Drawing Pencils. Great pencils, I highly recommend them.
