> 3 dayThe pencils require a lighter touch than Im used to--otherwise they drag and feel gummy, and crumble on the paper. With that lighter touch, however, and especially after the first layer of color is on the paper, they become quite rewarding. Look elsewhere for brilliant colors, but these are as lovely as they are subtle. They are also lightfast, with all but one scoring the maximum 8 on the blue-wool scale.

> 3 dayAlthough I have not purchased this specific set, as a photographic artist for over 30 years my colored pencil brand of choice was Derwent. Their colors blend well together and are extremely stable and colorfast. I never had any problem with the color changing even when clear protective sprays and lacquers were used overtop of them for protection of the photograph or artwork.

> 3 dayLove these pencils; so smooth and great for layering. The only complaint I have is the small color range.

> 3 dayI love how soft, thick and wonderfully blend able these pencils are. They are a little pricey, but, well worth it. After seeing the reviews expounding their use for “fur” and rendering animals, I thought I’d throw in my 2 cents and applaud how they work beautifully for drawing “people”, too. I added a sketch I did on a 12”x16”, medium grey, mi-teintes paper. Hopefully, along with the other reviewers, this illustrates how versatile, yet limited, this particular pencil palette is. I highly recommend these for drawing, however, I think if you are looking for artist pencils for coloring, you might be disappointed … this is a very “natural”, muted set of colored pencils.

Greater than one weekI have the total set of Polychromos, Prismacolor and these drawing pencils. I prefer the drawing pencils over all due to the color saturation and the creamy smoothness while laying the color down. It is great for fur and all the colors have an organic nature look to them. You will still need the polychromos for detail as the cores are thick. I like them a lot.

> 3 dayBeautiful natural looking colors! Its sometimes hard to find the right color to use for rendering natural scenes in artwork. A lot of colored pencil brands have greens and browns that are not found in nature and two or more colors have to be used to find the correct effect. These are the best I have found. They are a dream to work with, have a creamy smooth lay down and are easily blended.

> 3 dayI bought this set for a drawing class I was taking. It was nice to be exposed to these pencils, but Im not sure I will use them very much and they were quite expensive. They are less waxy than regular colored pencils, and less chalky than pastel/chalk pencils, so I guess you could say they are kind of in the middle of both types. I was disappointed in the quality of the white drawing pencil. I wanted a white area that had good contrast to the black area next to it; with the drawing pencil the white just didnt stand out. I ended up using a white colored pencil over the drawing pencil and that gave me the contrast I was looking for. As a pencil they are very easy to use, the tips can be sharpened to a fine point, and can draw a fine line. They are easier to hold than the short rectangular sticks such as Conte crayons. The pencils come in a collection of muted colors which the label says would be perfect for landscapes and pictures of animals. I would have to add a few colored pencils with brighter colors but that is just my preference.

> 3 dayThough I have not received this order yet. I have an old set at home. These are lovely muted colors that lend themselves perfectly to the coloring books that I have. I am currently using them in Lost Ocean.
