Greater than one weekCant go wrong with Derwent. Lovely colors in this 24 piece set.....calm and neutral which I like. The colors noted on the tip of the pencils matches the color of the drawing material sharpened at the opposite end. Suitable for landscape and portrait (in my opinion) among other artistic choices one may imagine. Comes in a tin which is always a plus to the purchase. Derwent has a long-standing commitment to quality and this set reflects that. Very happy with them.....and price is reasonable for the quality. Thanks to Seller and Amazon.

> 3 dayOnly 24 in the range?! Yes, but like the sonnet these force the artist to play, to adapt and invent creating wonderful landscapes and portraits. Derwents Drawing pencils are the softest pencils you will find - a cross between pencil and wax pastel, they lay down like cream and have the yummiest muted colours. They fast became a favourite with landscape and portrait artists on their release. Coffees, chocolates, earthy reds, moody seas and cloudy skies - these are the things that Drawing dreams of. They are also great for fur as they are soft and dense and natural. They all carry a lightfast rating of 8 (BW) except for the Ink Blue at 7 - which means your paintings will be around for quite some time.

> 3 dayWrote a long review on these with my first purchase of 6.. so it should tell ya I loved them. These are so different than any drawing pencil or colored pencil. They feel like Holbein more than anything else. However, these are more like a hard oil pastel encased in a pencil. They are tacky more than gritty and the result is very dark pigmented lines and are so so nice. Wish they had these in all their colors!

> 3 dayThese pencils are super awesome, theyre soft, their pigments are reall strong, and they can almost draw in any surface, but, a tip for the artist would be, if youre going to use these pencils to retouch finalized Acrylic, Watercolor, Gouache or Oil illustrations, please, let the Illustration dry well, apply a nice MATTE Workable varnish over the work (I use the matte medium from Liquitex, and I apply it diluted with water, with an airbrush) and work with these amazing pencils over it, then the magic will happens, as the tooth you have created with the Varnish/Matte medium is the PERFECT surface for these pencils to do their wonder!

> 3 dayI just ordered chinese white to try the pencil, see how it works with my Faber Castell Polychromos, and if I could get the opaque white I needed that regular colored pencils dont provide. But, not something that will wipe out the color underneath, just stronger then regular colored pencils white. It was perfect. It did exactly as I needed as plays quite nice with my polys. It blends in but, is stronger and more opaque. It blends in nicely, as well. I am so impressed I am going to order the full set with hopes of Derwent expanding the colors someday.
