12-06-2025Cant go wrong with Derwent. Lovely colors in this 24 piece set.....calm and neutral which I like. The colors noted on the tip of the pencils matches the color of the drawing material sharpened at the opposite end. Suitable for landscape and portrait (in my opinion) among other artistic choices one may imagine. Comes in a tin which is always a plus to the purchase. Derwent has a long-standing commitment to quality and this set reflects that. Very happy with them.....and price is reasonable for the quality. Thanks to Seller and Amazon.

Greater than one weekThese are amazing pencils, but limited by the fact that there are only 24 colors. They are among the most lightfast pencils that Derwent makes - very pigmented and they blend wonderfully. You can find them for $30 or a bit less if you look hard at the right time of year (like now!). They are probably one of the best values in colored pencil sets in terms of quality. Highly recommended!

> 3 dayAlthough I have not purchased this specific set, as a photographic artist for over 30 years my colored pencil brand of choice was Derwent. Their colors blend well together and are extremely stable and colorfast. I never had any problem with the color changing even when clear protective sprays and lacquers were used overtop of them for protection of the photograph or artwork.

> 3 dayI recently purchased these pencils and I adore them. Ive used them on both pastel paper and bristol board and they worked fine on both. The white and black in this line are really the best. The black in this is much darker than my prismacolor black pencil. These are much softer than prismacolor pencils. Imagine a combination between prismacolor premier pencils and oil pastels. I like the smudgy way they blend. These however are not for everyone. My prismacolors hold a point better. These would be rubbish for detailed adult coloring books because they do not hold a point very well. People were commenting in the reviews that they liked them for portraits. Im a portrait artist and Ive done a portrait with them but I didnt love them for that purpose. They were perfect for drawing furry animals. I love the color range. Its really well thought out. Great greys for shadows. I do not recommend these for lots of tiny detail work, youll be wasting them sharpening like crazy. I love these to pieces but will be buying some Faber Castell Polychromos for my most detailed work. Something important to know about these. They are incredibly lightfast, thats not common for colored pencils. All but one has the highest lightfast rating of 8 and the one that doesnt is a 7. This is important to me because I sell my originals and wouldnt want my work to fade on my customers. These work great with my prismacolor pencils so I often use both in the piece. The nose on the tiger drawing is the only part where I used prismacolor instead because there is no pink in the derwent drawing pencils set.

> 3 dayBeautiful natural looking colors! Its sometimes hard to find the right color to use for rendering natural scenes in artwork. A lot of colored pencil brands have greens and browns that are not found in nature and two or more colors have to be used to find the correct effect. These are the best I have found. They are a dream to work with, have a creamy smooth lay down and are easily blended.

> 3 dayWrote a long review on these with my first purchase of 6.. so it should tell ya I loved them. These are so different than any drawing pencil or colored pencil. They feel like Holbein more than anything else. However, these are more like a hard oil pastel encased in a pencil. They are tacky more than gritty and the result is very dark pigmented lines and are so so nice. Wish they had these in all their colors!
