DEWALT DW8311 4-1/2-Inch by 5/8-Inch-11 36 Grit Zirconia Angle Grinder Flap Disc

I havent used other flap discs so I cant compare but I was pretty happy using it. It didnt last as long as I wanted which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I did order another one I liked it so much. I plan on trying other ones and comparing- after I do I might change this review. I used it to smooth out my terrible welding skills and it did great. I tried it on truck bedliner though and it heated it up too much. It turned it into wet tar and made it harder to take off. But I didnt get it for that anyways. Works great on metal.

I sculpt with metal, mainly found steel, and use flap discs in the finishing process often on very rough surfaces. These discs are workhorses, work rapidly and produce fine finishes

Have gone through a few projects using this flap discs. These discs cut through rust with no pressure and will cut through mill scale with a few passes.

They grind down material real fast (and make a LOT of dust). They hold up pretty good as well. I just used one one two different flooring jobs with particleboard subflooring. One was a 9 to 10 inch wide, and 1/4 inch high ring around a toilet flange., it ground down in minutes. The second was a spot where a customers dog would wet the floor under a desk. It was circular about twenty inches in diameter and 3/8 inches high in places. The same disk leveled it out in minutes as well. The disk looked like it had more life in it, but I pitched it anyway (it stank like dog urine).

Great price for this wheel.

This cutting wheel may look thin but it cuts through soft to moderately hard metals better than expected. There didnt appear to be any noticeable wear or shedding after initial use. It appears the extra money was worth it.

Bought them for that purpose and they work like a champ. I like that they dont take off a lot of metal like a grinding disk does. Im sure Ill find other uses for them. Sharpened two blades and see a bit of wear, but i guess that is to be expected.

Very high quality. I save this for the finishing touches
