This is considerably better than the Weller that I have used for years. You DO need to read the set up instructions as selecting the temperature is not that intuitive. The build quality is much better than I expected. The solder pen holder is all metal and plastic components are well formed and fit well. I have only used once to re-solder some board pins to an ethernet connector (fairly fine work) successfully. I like the fact you can control the temperature to fit the project your working on.

Great soldering iron. Miles ahead of anything Ive used before. Temperature control is great and the tips allow me to solder precisely.

Used for stippling plastic and digital control allowed to zero in on best temperature to melt for texture without scorching or discoloring.

I received the wrong tip. I think the description as well as the images it showed it included a T18-S3 tip, but I received a T18-S7. I need to exchange this for the correct tip.
