> 3 dayPros: ++ Heats up fast within 30 seconds! ++ Temperature control ++ Excellent finish ++ Easy to use ++ I got mine with extra tips Cons: -- Not cheap at all! Other thoughts: I love this soldering iron. It heats up fast and it is easy to use which makes it fun. I use this to work on electronic projects as well as fixing wiring on my cars. It goes without saying, this thing is EXPENSIVE. However, it immediately pays for itself and again, it is a joy to use. If you have the cash and do moderate soldering, I highly recommend this product. This is one of the must have items I wanted next to a digital oscilloscope and digital function generator I also now have.

10-06-2025My first Hakko was dead on arrival. When I turned it on, I got the error h-E. After a lot of digging online, I found an obscure reference to that message pertaining to the failure of the heating element. It didnt seem very common, so I returned the iron and got a replacement. The replacement worked fine with very intermittent usage over the course of a few months. However, I needed to use the iron for a remote task recently. I put it in my toolbox along with some other tools. Upon reaching my destination and firing up the iron, I got the h-E message again! I was left without the main tool I needed for the task on that Sunday. Left with few options, I went to Home Depot and picked up a cheap Weller. Lo and behold, the Weller got the job done, and the Hakko is out of commission again. During the ~5 times that I was able to use the Hakko, I enjoyed its functionality. It just appears very delicate in my case. I wanted to love this well-respected iron, but Im left with a dud yet again.

> 3 dayThis is a well built soldering iron. It heats up quickly and is easy to use. A variety of tips are available and they are easy to change. The only downsides I see are that the user interface is a little difficult to use and it doesnt have an automatic shutoff if it is not used for a specified time. I have accidently left it on over night a couple of times.

> 3 dayI was skeptical about this soldering station at first as it does look a bit like a toy to me instead of something more industrial/professional. I was also unfamiliar with the brand name until recently. I checked all the reviews I could find on it online and they all highly recommended it. It heats up very quickly and has enough heat capactity (65 watts) to easily solder 10 gauge wires to terminals. It would be very difficuly if not impossible to do with my old soldering station which only puts out 22 watts. The pen itself is comfortable and doesnt get hot even after the iron is left on for 30 minutes. The tips are fantastic and they have a variety of shapes and sizes available for most any job. I like the digital display that reads out the temperature and makes changing the settings easy. If you are thinking of a new soldering station and are a bit hesitant like I was, take the plunge and get this one. You wont regret it!
