> 3 dayElectrically the product is great, hard to find space for it in the load center, so I mounted outside on the side. If the LC is between studs like mine, it can be challenging to drill the stud, and you end up with a bigger hole in the wall than the escutcheon will cover, Note to the manufacturer of the escutcheon, an extra half inch all round would have been ideal ! However with fiddly drywall repairs it looks great.

> 3 dayThis surge protector is easy to install but you will need some electrical ability and knowledge. Does it work? I don’t know . I don’t know if any surges have occurred.

> 3 dayI FIRST INSTALLED AN EATON SURGE PROTECTOR ON OUR HOMES ELECTRICAL PANEL, WHEN WE FIRST MOVED INTO OUR HOME IN 2007. IT WAS AN EATON CHSPTMICRO SURGE PROTECTOR. IT DID NOT HAVE ANY WARRANTY, BUT IT HAS PROTECTED OUR HOMES ELECTRICAL SYSTEM UP UNTIL RECENTLY. IT REQUIRED A DUAL 20 AMP CIRCUIT BREAKER, TO ALLOW THE SURGE PROTECTOR TO WORK. RECENTLY, IT FAILED TO BLOCK A LIGHTNING STRIKE SURGE ON OUR 120/240 AC SYSTEM RECENTLY, WHICH CAUSED OUR A/C SYSTEM TO HAVE FRIED ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS. THE REPAIR COST TO OUR AC SYSTEM WAS $160.00! AS PER EATON, THE EATON CHSPTULTRA WHOLE HOUSE SURGE PROTECTOR, WILL NOW NEED A DUAL 50 AMP CIRCUIT BREAKER, FOR TWO PHASES OF 120VAC CIRCUITS TO ALLOW THE EATON SURGE PROTECTOR TO PROTECT OUR HOMES ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. I WILL REMOVE THE 20 AMP DUAL CIRCUIT BREAKER, AND REPLACE IT WITH A 50 AMP DUAL CIRCUIT BREAKER. I WILL THEN INSTALL THE EATON CHSPTULTRA WHOLE HOUSE SURGE PROTECTOR, INTO OUR HOMES MAIN POWER BOX. EATON GUARANTEES TO REPLACE ANY DAMAGE DUE TO A LIGHTNING STRIKE, OR ELECTRICAL PROBLEM UP TO A MAXIMUM OF $75.000.00! ON OUR HOMES ELECTRICAL SYSTEM!

> 3 dayWe purchased a whole house suppressor in order to protect items like the oven, dishwasher, and washer/dryer units that seem to be 50% computer and 50% mechanical. Straightforward installation by an electrician. Item fit well and there have been no problems. No direct lightning strikes or big surges to test the device.

> 3 dayAfter having a nearby lightning strike during a thunderstorm a while back and having numerous electronics randomly fried (many of which were connected to surge protector strips), including TVs, receiver, irrigation controller, AC condenser unit control board, and all of our cable modem/tuner equipment, etc. I decided to look into whole home surge protection. I found that this unit had a good protection rating and good reviews, and was available at a good price so I decided to give it a try. The installation was pretty straightforward though I had to drill a new hole in my panel (and notch a stud) in order to get it as close to the 50A breaker as possible - I used a step drill also purchased on Amazon. I’ve included a few photos for ref. I used a 1/2” pipe coupling and bushing to offset the module outside the stud, providing a pretty clean look. I’ve also since added an Eaton cable protection module to increase the protection of my electronics. Very happy having the additional peace of mind, but have also added/upgraded some of the other indoor surge protector devices for added protection of sensitive electronics.

Greater than one weekInstalled easily on the outside of my panel board in my basement. You do need a 2-pole 50 amp breaker in order to install it. Luckily, havent had any kind of surge that has tested the unit. I will update the review if it ever happens.
