> 3 dayNot entirely sure how to rate this product. It is installed, has two solid green lights which is supposed to mean it is functioning but how would I know unless there were an electrical storm or a power flick due to wind or ? And of course if I did have a piece of electronic equipment fail, would the company actually pay out on the warranty. Right now it is just a black wart on the side of the main electrical box. I did have an electrician install (took him all of 20 minutes, maybe 30 if I count everything from the time he parked his truck to the time he drove away) it but after watching him, it would have been easy for me to do it myself. He didnt even flip the main breaker before installing. Other than this unit, he needed a breaker (newer house so a) box had room and b) the breakers are still common) and a fancy drill bit which drilled just the right size hole in the box (normal bit would have done the job but his special one did not leave a burr). I did learn to back up the area where the hole is drilled with a block of wood so as to not punch through and unintentionally hit something on the inside (breaker, wire). And, while I could have done it myself, it would have taken me a lot longer and I definitely would have disrupted the house by flipping the main breaker so, in the end, it was worth it to have someone else do it. Bottom line, I gave it 5 stars across the board because I had no basis to do anything different. (Not germane to the review but the electrician said he could supply the device or I could buy on my own on Amazon or ? and it made no difference to him. He even supplied an Amazon link to an acceptable device. I ended up going with one that had a little higher rating in terms of what it would stop but what he recommended would probably been just fine.)

> 3 dayReplaced a free one from our electric company that was compromised when our house was hit by lightening. This one should protect us better, beefier, had an electrician install it in our electrical box.

> 3 dayThe warranty says that Failure due to direct lightning strikes and temporary over-voltage are not covered. Id say that gives them enough wiggle room to deny just about any claim, especially for the $75k warranty they talk about in the large print. Does it work? Who knows? Next time I get a non-lightning or over voltage related surge (is that possible), Ill update my review. Its 100,000 amp rating is superb, but Im deducting two stars for leaving the burden of finding out whether this thing works or not on me, and paying the price if it doesnt.

> 3 dayEasy to install. Connected it myself to the panel. Got a Eaton 50amp breaker with trip indicator from homedepot 17.48$ and installed right after the main breaker. Took me about 15 minutes. Left it in breaker box. Fingers crossed that I never need it.

> 3 dayWe had no equipment failures due to power surges due to power outages prior to installation, we’ve had three power outages since installing. Lost two coffee makers, a computer and a router. Going to replace with a different brand.
