The FakeTV FTV-11 arrived with helpful placement instructions. As directed, I placed it in a room with shades drawn, from which no outsider would be able to see the device that actually produced TV-like colors against the main shade. I find the result quite convincing.

Updated. The concept and idea are good. I believed in the product enough to immediately have ordered another which arrived and worked correctly. Dusk as others have said may need more dark than not so I have to further test it. But since I have a timer out already I may use the dusk feature since it works now and also the timer to create a more variable On time. Appreciated that the seller already contacted me about my issue. Just have to finish going through the return process. I also noticed the 3 year warranty so thats a good thing. Sometimes I forget I have it on and when seeing it from outside I think someone is home already. Original review: Ordered and came during my vacation so perfect timing. Im disappointed enough to write this immediately on my phone. Dusk 4 hours glows a single light. Dusk 7 hours just turns on two lights. Tried it in a total dark room to make sure it was definitely broken on arrival. Good thing I have a timer as it works in on position. Will go thru the hassle of return process later.

We live in a rural area, so are worried about thieves when we are gone. I think that this light looks like a real tv is on from outside the house . It is bright enough to show through the closed blinds and makes the house look lived in. I loved it so much that I bought a second one for a second home.

Wow, this unit is much brighter than expected. The unit lights up the room and can be seen out of the windows easily, even with the blinds closed. Worth having installed even when you are in the home every day. The unit is very light, you can rest it on the power adapter to lift it off the ground. The unit does not get warm and my power meter shows it draws 3A of power, not bad.

Excellent product. Theres only one improvement thats necessary: Add one simple thing: a DIMMER setting--too bright. Concept behind concept behind the TV is good of course everyone knows Fake TV is good of course everyone knows (trust me I own three, so Im a fan but my feedback is that much more valuable. HOWEVER, heres the problem: since the obvious purpose of the product is a theft deterrent, and since thieves commonly stick out a house for a few days first, they will easily be able to recognize the difference between a much lower brightness of your regular TV and me five times higher brightness of your fake TV. this is the problem but it is a cheap fix for you just add a dimmer in the back so that the user can adjust to match the brightness of their own real TV so that its less suspicious . Then you have the perfect product then youll have the perfect product and theft deterrent . actually I have one additional awesome suggestion to add more value to your company: everything probably by design has a high action movie type of display (Always flickering a little bit too fast) always flickering a little bit too fast . My suggestion then is to randomize between different types of flicker speed THEMES every (Again randomize) 20-40 minutes since this will more realistically reflect real TV as people often switch between NEWS and documentaries (lower flicker rates) and action (your current is high action movies only). Another reason this is important is that because of the extreme I brightness in the extreme high action, we noticed that even with the doors closed etc. that this can contribute to the poor sleep and nightmares versus keeping it off at night which is precisely when we need to keep it on so the suggestions also solves problems as well as more closely approximate but more closely approximate a real TV viewing real TV viewing. In summary 2 things: 1. A brightness/dimmer setting; 2. RANDOMIZED Theme variations, where themes represent low speed flicker viewing (like dramas/news) vs higher speed (sports and action movies) at random for changing intervals that our minimum of, say, 20 minutes. This will make your product twice as good, and twice as realistic, with the least amount of investment.

Works well, including the on-at-dusk features. I have a 27 LCD in my bedroom and I set this up to compare it. It is WAY brighter than my TV is. Easy fix: just dont point it directly at the window. It more or less looks like a real TV, but I think it looks more like an oldskool CRTs patterns than an LCDs. No one will notice, Im sure.
