Fluker All Natural Premium Sand Substrate Mixture for Hermit Crabs Pack of 2 66027-2p

I bought this to fill small formicariums for my ants. They love it. Sticks good and comes already damp. Perfect simple and cheap digging medium for them.

Searched for sand for hermit carb and came across this product. The tank it’s in has to be misted and this sand is now like concrete. I’m buying new sand after just a week. If you don’t have to mist this should be ok but if it’s for an animal that requires you to do so try a different brand. Ok so update to my review, I did purchase new sand but also did a little more research and ran out to buy distilled water. We were misting with just tap water and the under sand heater doesn’t help. It took a little work to break up but I was able to get the brick of sand back to a hard sand consistency added the distilled water and now have moist sand castle consistency sand. Will definitely need daily attention to ensure it doesn’t dry out but my guess is that would be with any sand especially sitting on top of a heat source that’s drying it back out.

Was worried due to some of the reviews but my 2 hermits love the sand. I mix with ecoearth in the tank however. Have not had any problems with sand in their shells. They are happy little hermit crabs and I’m one happy pet owner.

My three hermit crabs absolutely love this stuff! I had them for a few months and they were lethargic, fearful, and werent molting so I knew I had to make a change. At that point I was only using Eco Earth for substrate. Now I have half the tank with this sand and half the hank with Eco Earth and they are so happy! They are very active now and have major excavation projects going on all the time. As soon as I switched to this they started molting right away. Ive now had my hermit crabs for a year and a half and the littlest one is as big as the biggest one was when I first got them. Maybe the bad reviews had to do with which breed of crab those people had(?) All of mine are purple pinchers. The down side is that they only sell small bags. I try to make the substrate very deep to ensure the crabs can molt properly. I need 2-3 bags to properly cover half of a 10-gallon tank (the other half is Eco Earth). Because of that, its a bit expensive. I wish they either sold larger bags or would lower the price of the small bag.
