> 3 dayMy hermit crab died in this sand. As soon as I replaced old sand I had purchased from PetSmart with Flukers sand, my hermit crabs started spending more time away from the sand. Two managed to stay away. One hermit crab that has not found a get-away spot, it died. The two surviving crabs would stay either on the top of their hiding coconut shell or other hiding structures. They used to all cram in the coconut shell hide out. Since I put the shell on the top of the sand, my crabs would not spend time inside anymore. They seem to prefer being totally exposed and sleeping uncovered. I found it very odd at first. Luckily, they survived. This sand came wet. I was surprised that it would not dry out like kids slimy or kinetic sand. I cannot say that the sand was a direct cause for killing the hermit crab. But I can tell for sure one died after I introduced my hermit crabs to this sand. I do not recommend this product.

> 3 daySo far so good! The sand holds its shape super well! Great for digging down and molting! :) I previously had 100% pure white beach sand that held its shape, but not as well because it was a little bit courser. Im trying something new with his habitat since Im a teacher and I have to take the tank home to clean my hermies habitat. The weight with the amount of sand I used to use was extremely heavy. So I was paranoid I would drop it one day. I bought a corner water bowl for lizards to use for just sand and other substrate I have a coconut fiber, sand and rock mixture. Now just waiting on his climbing rope ladder for across the tank and were set to go back to class! :)

> 3 dayIve been using Flukers hermit crab sand for the past 2 years, and my hermit crab has always adjusted well to this sand. I would recommend still mixing this sand with some coconut substrate to preserve the moisture level in the tank. The only downside is the pricing, but you can sometimes find this sand on sale.

> 3 dayWhen I replaced my hermit crabs tiny pebbles with this sand they perked right up! It also encouraged my hermies to burrow and molt, that’s something I didn’t expect. As a grown adult I know owning hermit crabs seems weird. But this sand made them happy, so I’m happy.

> 3 dayThis is the type of sand that stays damp and is perfect for our hermit crabs. They LOVE burrowing in it and it’s perfect to put the dishes in to bury so everything is level. Their poop causes it to smell a little bit, but I just scoop the edges with a plastic spoon. It retains moisture and I haven’t had to spray the tank at all. It does leave condensation on the inside with the heater, but when I open the top, it goes away.

> 3 dayHermy gives this sand two big claws up. He digs like a machine making tunnels and burying under items in his tank. He really comes to life when its time to change out for new. Your Hermy will love this stuff!!
