> 24 hourAttempted to import a .gpx file onto the device that is 1.8mb. Apparently that is too large. You can only import routes that have 200 or less data points.

> 24 hourI replaced my 6-year old Delorme InReach with the new Garmin version (2020). The screen and maps are a little better, and the design is a little more modern and appears more rugged (tighter fitting cover, softer plastic cover). The general functions work essentially the same as the old unit -- with the same advantages and disadvantages of the Delorme unit. I switched over to the new unit and synced all my historical data with no problem. My main use of this is for the satellite messaging service and to have the SOS in all cases. The gps side of the unit is basic and if that is all you are after, I would definitely not consider this gps as the best. I use this all of the time on backpacking trips and find it very comforting to know that I can be reached (and can reach others) in emergencies . . . .

> 24 hourI bought this after getting delayed in a canyon overnight. My parents ended up calling out search and rescue when I didnt show after 40 hours. This beauty has allowed them and me to now relax when I go out on adventures. I can send unlimited preset messages that show them where I am, they can see my position on a map, and even zoom in on google earth to see what the terrain looks like. It has given us enormous peace of mind and it is awesome with all the maps it comes with, or that you can download. The activation fee is $25 for the year and each month is $15. I can choose to deactivate it if Im not going to be out adventuring for the month.

> 24 hourThe device works well but you need to pay attention to how you sign up. I bought this to use once a year for one month. Read the fine print their discount signs you up for a year. They would not adjust this even though I contacted them less than a month of finding this out and one month of using the device. I have been using garmin products for many years and was very disappointed with this customer service.

> 24 hourJust got mine today; a little bit of peace of mind, perhaps, as I venture on even better adventures. The set up was quite easy, just follow the directions, and so far Im very pleased with my new device. I am especially happy with the preloaded maps and the cell phone app; both provide excellent maps for planning and navigation. Ill update as I learn more but, so good, so far . . .

> 24 hourMy Garmin Inreach Explorer has given me a sense of security when out of range of cellular communications. I know that Im only a text message away from a friend coming to help. And, if I have an emergency, help is just a push of a button away. I feel so strongly about the usefullness of the Inreach Explorer that I have asked the company that I work for consider its use. We have since ordered 40 and will more than double that number soon. If you or your employees find yourself alone and outside of cell service even occasionally, you should consider this product. Before having the Explorers available, our employees would notify our dispatchers of their possible return time before heading to remote locations where they knew they would be outside of radio and cell service. The intent was that if they didnt check back in that someone would go look for them. Now were in the modern age, and our employees are able to communicate with their supervisor and each other at all times.
