Better unit than the 401. Compass, battery life and display are clearly superior. I do miss the multi display screen or maybe I just can’t find it. If you are upgrading from the 401 save your band it is much better. I also like the closure on the 401 battery compartment more. If you are waffling between the 401 and 601 and aren’t worried about the ballistic function, just spend the extra 20 bucks you won’t be disappointed.

Ive always been a garmin user, but this product is great

I purchased this device expecting it to function like the past three Garmin generations of wrist GPS I had owned. I was wrong and its a major disappointment. It worked for about a day and then refused to track satellites and provide a GPS location. When I called customer support they told me I had to download their program onto my computer and update the firmware on the device- just to know my location! First, I didnt have access to my computer and I dont want to download your program. Garmins not interested in taking it back so now Im stuck with a paperweight. Do not purchase unless you understand this product cannot be used away from an actual computer; a smart phone isnt enough.

I cannot believe it took me so long to purchase one. Such a useful tool. The functions and the ease of use was amazing. With lithium batteries it took days of non stop navigation use. The shading of waypoints and routes makes getting everyone on the same page a breeze.

Product speak for itself.... Satellite sensing, Time, Terrain, Temperature, Altitude, Barometer, Tracker, Communications, GPS, Long life on batteries.... and much more.. Accurate, consistent, precise, efficient. These are all terms that come to mind while using this Unit... Definitely recommended... I use it primarily for overland and canoeing expeditions and it works mighty fine !! Thanks Garmin !

Très bon GPS pour la randonnée et la topo en général. Bien sûr pas de carte ou de représentation graphique du terrain. Application tierce obligatoire pour récupérer les traces sur appareil mobile (Strava).

Zur Erklärung: ich mache mit meinem Hund viele Wanderungen. Zur Planung nutzte ich bislang KOMOOT und zur Navigation mein Smartphone (S7 Edge). War auch soweit in Ordnung bis ich mich eines Tages mit 70% geladenem Akku auf eine kleine Tour begeben habe (70-80min) und der Sch...Akku in meinem Handy ungefähr 20min vor Tourenende vor Überanstrengung den Geist aufgegeben hat! Ich stand irgendwo in der Pampa, hatte natürlich kein Orientierungsbackup dabei und es goß wie aus Eimern! Dazu dann der Blick meines Hundes, der ein ganz klares Alter, nicht Dein Ernst?! aussagte... Aber, was soll ich sagen: wir hatten Glück und begegneten zufällig einer Gruppe Waldarbeiter, von denen mir einer auf einer Oldschool Faltkarte unseren Standort gezeigt hat und mir die Karte freundlicherweise zur Heimnavigation überlassen hat.
