> 3 dayIf my fenix 5x runs out of battery, I wont be without a navigation device with this unit... The positioning system is super fast and navigates extremely accurate. The battery life is definitely the best around...

> 3 dayI had previously owned a Foretrex 401 for 5 years which was a fantastic but of kit. I needed a replacement so bought a 601 with high hopes.

> 3 dayPeople thinking this will do more than it is intended to. Tracks your footsteps in case you get lost, creates way points, how many miles you have hiked, etc etc. have had all the foretrex.

> 3 dayAnother excellent unit from Garmin. Accurate, compact and simplistic use (loads of options and functions). This is a military grade unit and will withstand a lot of abuse. It is highly recommended to purchase and use a screen protector to enhance the protection capabilities. Adding a NATO strap is an option but both straps provided work well.

19-11-2024This has been the best Garmin I’ve owned to date, I’ve owned a 301, 401 and yellow hand held one which I can’t remember the series of, but this one has really shone, it’s easy to use, very military friendly, robust, functional and sleek looking, a must have for an infanteer

> 3 dayI was delighted that after many years Garmin updated their Fortrex line. I bought a Foretrex 601 with the idea of replacing my good old Suunto Observer altimeter watch. (An altimeter is the most important navigation instrument in the mountains.) Weighting just 15 grams more, the Foretrex would (I hoped) measure time and elevation just as well, and provide satellite navigation as a bonus/backup. All of this with a sturdy construction, usable in winter conditions, and with 48 h battery life (running on the same AAA cells that power many headlamps and avalanche beacons).
