All trailer manufacturers dont seem to turn the angle iron on the tailgate the same way so if you buy the lift handle you will have to adjust the instructions to fit your trailer. If using the extension rollers the instructions dont show which way to install the rivets or how far apart the roller extension and lift arm should be. An email to Gorilla lift solved both issues within 24 hours and I was able to complete installation the day after delivery.

Instructions were very clear & I am able to raise and lower the gate with very little effort.

I couldnt have asked for better results. Took me about an hour to install by myself, although help (as suggested) on the tail gate would have been thankful. Would of been faster, but two conditions on my trailer required some extra work (see below). Nothing to do with the Gorilla-Lift, just the way my trailer was made. Installation: The rails are about 6 long, (2) 3 pieces with bolts about 1 in from each end. Look at your trailer and make sure you can drill through your top rail and attach a bolt. Also the bolts they sent are long, I assume they send long ones in case you have tube railing. I switched out the (4) interior bolts for shorter bolts. Didnt need to do so I just like the appearance more. The back bolts on my trailer were located directly between the wheels. I had to drill through the top rail and the fender below. The supplied bolts ere long enough to reach through both plates. While the fender is thinner material it is welded to the sides of my trailer so I am not concerned with the capacity. If anything I will just need to add a larger washer at this location. At the end of my trailer they have a vertical channel to support the gate locks and stiffen the sides. Luckily these have an open bottom. I was able to get a 24 extension for the sockets and install the nut on the bolt. !!!Very important step!!! Make sure you attach the cables to the gate to see where the permanent attachment should be before drilling. I had to lower my location about 1 from the suggested location to keep our tailgate flat to the ground. Also make sure you check this in the position you will usually have your trailer in. Not thinking at the time the trailer was on a slight uphill grade when I installed the lift, when turned the other direction the gate stays off the ground about 2 inches. Not an issue for loading an ATV but could be a trip hazard. Plan to attach the spare tire to the gate to make sure it always stays down. How it works: As for lifting, I can now simply put my foot under the gate and raise it with a slight bump. My 2 yr old even closed it by himself, although that may not be a good thing. To lower you do have to pull down some, when before you had to make sure it didnt drop and smash whatever was underneath. I will not own a trailer again that does not have one of these installed on the rear gate.

I needed something to allow me to continue using my utility trailer that has a heavy ramp/tailgate. The Gorilla Lift did the trick but it was pretty difficult to install on my round pipe rails. This was all made more difficult by the fact that I’m 75 and have a partially paralyzed hand. Once completed it works very well and I recommend it for us senior citizens. I had to purchase longer bolts to go through the pipe rail but that was the only problem.

Any trailer 12 feet or more, I highly recommend these. The trailer ramps, especially on larger trailers, are quite heavy to lift up and even let down. With this product, it makes putting the ramp down easily with one hand....same for lifting the ramp up as well. They are sturdy and well-made, fairly easy to install too.

Liked made trailer ramp easy to lift. Wish carriage bolts had a couple of options for placement because supports for trailer rail were in the way of current square holes. Bolts were too long for my trailer rail. No dislikes. GORILLA-LIFT was a simple solution for a heavy trailer ramp.

This product is going to save my back over the years to come. I have a very heavy gate on my landscaping trailer and I put it up and down at least 20 times every day. Instead of having to do a squat maneuver to get my gate up, now I flip it up with my foot and the rest of the way I push-up with a finger tip. It is a game changer

I really like the gorilla lift, it makes raising and lowering the tailgate a 1 finger operation. I had to modify it because it is a Brimar trailer with uprights where the puppy end should be. I took 5/4 x6 pressure decking and attached it to the top rail then attached the gorilla lift on the outside edge of the decking. Not a piece of art but very functional.

Easily raise and lower your utility or ATV trailer"s tailgate. Enclosed two-sided lift-assist assembly virtually eliminates the weight of most trailer tailgates and helps to reduce accidents and injuries. Prevents tailgate warping or premature hinge failure. Adjustable for different tailgate weights and sizes. When properly set, most tailgates will stay in any position and float up and down at the slightest pressure, making loading and unloading hassle-free.
