06-06-2025Awesome Product...Have been using it for for months everyday....Only issue I had was the Quality of the Carriage Bolts....The Strip Very Easily...Do Not over torque/tighten...Or Replace them with better quality like I did.

12-06-2025This was fairly easy to install with the right tools. Watch the YouTube video we found which had clear instructions (not a Gorilla lift company video). Only issue is that 2 bolts are in wheel well and one is in an rail support so we needed a 13mm deep socket. My trailer is 5x8 with a 4foot gate and only one is needed. Prior to this lift, I had to be careful of my back. Now I can almost lift this gate with what I call dishwasher foot lift. I can lift it with one hand, in stead of lifting and resting the gate on my hip and the bench pressing it the rest of the way. Now it is so easy, I have to make sure it doesnt get away from me and go too far forward which is not really an issue.

> 3 dayI unfortunately installed it more than the specified 18. My fault. Had it welded at 18 and wouldnt keep the trailer if I had to keep manually lifting the tailgate. Im a 78 year old woman and this add on is a miracle for me.

> 3 dayThis gorilla lift is something I should have done a long time ago.. very easy installation with instructions that are very easy to follow. I used it for my liftgate on my utility trailer and its so much easy just by using one hand and then putting my foot on it and then vice versa , no more strain or hurting my back.. I would very much recommend..

> 3 dayI have a 16’ trailer for my UTV. The gate was over 150 lbs. After my back surgery last year I could not lift or let it down alone. Now I can lift or lower the gate with literally 2 fingers. I show it to anyone who has a trailer.. this is a great product. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars on ease of installation is that the design of my trailer rails required me to weld the rearmost part of the lift to the rail because the rail design made it impossible to access the rear bolt hole. Any trailer I have from now on till get a gorilla lift.

> 3 dayAs far as the Gorilla Lift, installation was easy. My trailer has angle iron top rails, so I bought shorter carriage bolts (my choice-less than $1.00). Yes, the supplied bolts are not 5/16” as claimed on the instructions, they appear to be metric. I also bought square plugs to cover the open end of the tubing, which again was my choice. (cost me $1.00) You have to trim the plugs so they fit due to the hardware inside the square tubing. The instructions I found to be well written and understandable. The hardest part was attaching the cables to the tailgate which took some muscle to install, but I did it by myself. I am very pleased with the Gorilla Lift. My wife was able to easily lower and raise the tailgate. We both have back problems so this should help. I only gave the Gorilla Lift 3 stars because of delivery problems. When I placed the order (on a Friday) delivery was guaranteed for the following Tuesday. When it wasn’t delivered on Tuesday, I contacted the seller and was promised delivery on Wednesday. When it wasn’t delivered on Wednesday, then I was promised that it would be delivered anytime from Thursday to the following Tuesday. The package was delivered on Thursday. The Gorilla Lift was available elsewhere for a few dollars less, but I paid the few dollars extra because of the promised early delivery date. Had I known that it wouldn’t be delivered on the promised day, I would have bought from the cheaper seller.

> 3 dayLikes - came as a two pack; easy to install, instructions were clear Dislikes - The provided bolts are longer than what I would have selected for mounting to the trailer. Note the bolts are metric thread. I was going to change them out for standards of a shorter size (as my local Lowes does not have a great inventory if any metric). Luckily, I brought a couple of the carriage bolts with me and figured out that on the closest standard thread, the square part of the carriage bolt on the metric bolt is smaller, so standard bolt would not work in the pre-drilled carriage bolt holes on the spring tubes. I stuck with the metric bolts but did change out the longer bolts on the gate end since they were not carriage bolt application. Also, my trailer has a dove tail and the side rails follow that drop so I ended up using spacers to support end closest to gate. No biggie and I knew this going into the purchase. Also, I added some chain link connectors to the trailer and positioned the gate locations a bit higher to allow for some adjustment if the spring wears. There are actually two springs in each tube, and I opted to use both versus trial and error of testing one then another. I am very satisfied with the purchase.
