Genuine GORILLA-LIFT 2-Sided Trailer Tailgate Lift Assist

Couldn’t be more satisfied. This is a game changer. My ramp gate is over 150 pounds. Now it moves easily up and down and will stay in any position between.

So, my utility trailer has 30 walls, so standard attachment would not work. I had angle iron rails welded 24 to the outside of the bed walls and used it as the attachment points. Mounting the tubes was not a problem, drilling the 1/2 in holes was important for this attachment for movement and clearance. The challenge was installing the pins that ended up against the side of the gate opening, there was not much clearance, but after many attempts was able to make it work. Standard cotter pins would have worked better for this app. SPRINGS , this was the most aggravating part of the install. Testing the spring strength vs the ramp gate was bs. trying to stretch the small spring while inside the large caused the spring to bind and not reflect the true spring rate. Then once a spring was cut, its worthless (cant undo a cut spring). It seems that it the springs were separated, not fixed to the cable, fine tuning what rate is needed for the ramp weight would work better. My app ended up with two small springs, does not hold the gate but takes some effort to lower and raise the ramp. Much better than before. However, a combo of one small one large may have worked better. Only other grip is, the manufacture suggests applying a sealant as the join of the two tubes, but end caps are not provided for the leading end of the tubes and the roller end is open. Makes perfect sense. would absolutely recommend!

I bought these kind of as an afterthought when I was getting a ramp installed on my trailer. This is an extremely stout trailer ramp, as you can see in the picture, probably weighing 300 lbs. These lifts have no issue holding it up and slowing dropping it. I actually have to push it down the last 4 but it stays when its on the ground. I drive my tractor up on the trailer, lift it with my toe and one hand lift the rest of the way. These are amazing and honestly, when I bought them, I didnt have really high expectations. Highly recommended, hopefully the longevity is as good as the initial performance!

I purchased last year and installed a month ago. Springs on right side pulled through and cable on left side broke.

Love this made lifting my heavy gate lift with ease.

This item its extremely strong. The only bad thing about this is the pulling wires are so tiny. Not sure it they will last that much.

All trailer manufacturers dont seem to turn the angle iron on the tailgate the same way so if you buy the lift handle you will have to adjust the instructions to fit your trailer. If using the extension rollers the instructions dont show which way to install the rivets or how far apart the roller extension and lift arm should be. An email to Gorilla lift solved both issues within 24 hours and I was able to complete installation the day after delivery.

I bought this for my father in law’s trailer. His gate is heavy. Now my mother in-law can lift it easily.
