Any trailer 12 feet or more, I highly recommend these. The trailer ramps, especially on larger trailers, are quite heavy to lift up and even let down. With this product, it makes putting the ramp down easily with one hand....same for lifting the ramp up as well. They are sturdy and well-made, fairly easy to install too.

Instructions seem to be very intimidating to look at and read. I went to the Trusty YouTube and I found all kind of videos on installing the Gorilla lift there. The time I wasted trying to read them is all it took to install it on my Trailer. I bought a 2019 Carry on and when it comes to drilling the holes go ahead and save yourself a trip back and buy the Good Drill Bits to begin with. My tail gate weighs right at 75 lbs and stands 4 feet tall and is 5 feet 5 inches wide. I have a bad back and thought I was going to have to sell my new trailer before I got started. After a lil research I found the Gorilla Lift and I thought there was no way it works like the video. Got it on and the tail gate would not stay down. I had to unhook 1 spring on both sides to get my gate to stay down. Sure enough I can use 1 finger to lower it or lift it. I am good to go and I get to keep my trailer now. Mine is installed on a 3 inch round tube and not on a flat surface. I had to buy 8 - 3 1/2 inch bolts to replace the 2 1/2 inch ones that came with it. That was a dislike but it was made to work so I am happy on that The front part of the lift has a 2 inch square where the springs hold to and it looked a lil sloppy so I bought the 2 inch squares off of Amazon and slipped them right on. Looks good and it is in Great shape for my hauling needs. I could have used one of them to do the job at hand but I was concerned about my Tail Gate Twisting by doing so... Highly Recommend is a Back Saver and it adds value to your Trailer

Easy to install-I pulled up a U Tube video that showed how to go about it-just like the written instructions ! I ended up using only on of the 2 lifts in the kit-----I have a 5 x 10 trailer---and a single works perfectly! I mounted it on the passenger side because I have my spare tire mounted on the driver side and would have had to reposition it to accommodate the 2nd lift. I gave a friend of mine the passenger side lift-he tossed me back half of what I paid ! I used it extensively from Wednesday thru Saturday and it never failed-Would though like for it to have a plastic cap over the front end of the lift to keep dirt and debris out-this being open could become an issue down the road-I haul my ATV on this trailer and am on a lot of dirt and mud roads.....

My unit has two inch square tubing. No matter how I placed the spring housings on the tubing - at least two of the bolts were over the vertical tubing. Meaning I could not get bolts in those locations. One of those locations was right at the tailgate where the rollers are located. The other was at the rear of the unit were the internal spring is anchored. I bought two four foot pieces of two inch aluminum angle iron and made brackets that bolted to the housing at those points the drilled horizontal through the two tubing and used bolts to secure the aluminum bracket to the tubing. In the middle I had to place the aluminum brackets to keep the unit level and then bolted them vertically through the horizontal tubing. Thing is - I had to get new carriage bolts long enough to go through the brackets and the two inch tubing. I followed the directions and used the chart to determine that my four foot tailgate needed half inch holes drilled 20 inches from the top rail. Worked perfectly and was able to get the cable pulled out and the bolt inserted with no help. The tailgate goes to the ground and stays there and lifts easily off the ground. Keep in mind you may have to remove the bracket that holds the tailgate in locked position if the cable does not clear it when in the down position. Then relocate and replace that bracket where it wont damage the cable. The extra bolts and the aluminum for the brackets will up the cost of the unit by about $100 dollars. Would appreciate if anyone has a better idea for when the holes fall over a vertical square tube. But I am completely satisfied with this product.

Really like the Gorilla lift and give it five stars. The reason I give four Star is the bolts that come with it are not going to let your bolts set flat unless you make your hole square or drill a really big hole. I believe the hardware bolts could be a better design.

I really liked it was easy to install. Video was very helpful. A few things that cause install to take a while we’re, the bolts were too long and I had to go buy shorter ones. Also the metal on my trailer must have been super heavy duty because I had to buy drill bits twice. Finally got it installed and it was way to much lift for my gate. I just took one side completely off. Really helps opening & shutting the gate. I would buy it again.

I bought this over two years ago but had to do welding repairs on the drop ramp before I could install. Finally found time to fix that. Installation was very easy - drill 10 holes 1/2” diameter each and hook up. Took about an 45 minutes. Great directions. I was basically shocked at how well it works. My ramp was heavy and hard to lift - how it’s almost like it’s motor driven but will rest in any position. A super value and excellent product.

As far as the Gorilla Lift, installation was easy. My trailer has angle iron top rails, so I bought shorter carriage bolts (my choice-less than $1.00). Yes, the supplied bolts are not 5/16” as claimed on the instructions, they appear to be metric. I also bought square plugs to cover the open end of the tubing, which again was my choice. (cost me $1.00) You have to trim the plugs so they fit due to the hardware inside the square tubing. The instructions I found to be well written and understandable. The hardest part was attaching the cables to the tailgate which took some muscle to install, but I did it by myself. I am very pleased with the Gorilla Lift. My wife was able to easily lower and raise the tailgate. We both have back problems so this should help. I only gave the Gorilla Lift 3 stars because of delivery problems. When I placed the order (on a Friday) delivery was guaranteed for the following Tuesday. When it wasn’t delivered on Tuesday, I contacted the seller and was promised delivery on Wednesday. When it wasn’t delivered on Wednesday, then I was promised that it would be delivered anytime from Thursday to the following Tuesday. The package was delivered on Thursday. The Gorilla Lift was available elsewhere for a few dollars less, but I paid the few dollars extra because of the promised early delivery date. Had I known that it wouldn’t be delivered on the promised day, I would have bought from the cheaper seller.

Easily raise and lower your utility or ATV trailer"s tailgate. Enclosed two-sided lift-assist assembly virtually eliminates the weight of most trailer tailgates and helps to reduce accidents and injuries. Prevents tailgate warping or premature hinge failure. Adjustable for different tailgate weights and sizes. When properly set, most tailgates will stay in any position and float up and down at the slightest pressure, making loading and unloading hassle-free.
