GU Energy Original Sports Nutrition Energy Gel, 24-Count, Salted Caramel

Its GU so already expected effective product. The only thing to concern is the shelf life. Best before is on Oct 2023 so it is good.

So I actually have a pretty simple flavor taste, but Ive used these Gu Energy Gels for both Marathon race days as well as training. Theyre lightweight, easy to swallow, and typically do not leave a bad aftertaste. Vanilla bean is just my personal favorite flavor. Experiment with what you may or may not like. Always experiment with nutrition on training runs, and not race days, as everyones digestion is different, and they may cause upset stomachs if you havent used them before. Other than that, the only real downside, is if you dont stop to open and use them, they can make your hands sticky, because a little bit always kind of leaks out while youre opening and running.

Dont really like the taste, but definitely gives you an energy boost to get you through an afternoon or whatever youre taking it for. May try another flavor in the future

I always keep a couple of GU Energy Gels in my purse and in my hiking backpack. When my blood sugar plummets during a long day of shopping or out on the trail, I drink one of these. I like the Vanilla Bean flavor as it is light and not too sweet. Within a couple of minutes, I feel ready to go again. I dont leave home without a few on hand.

These are soooooooo good! They taste like pudding, just need a piece of chocolate to put with it! I use these gels for every marathon &Half-marathon.

Ive used many different tastes of GU Original Energy Gels. My favorites are salted caramel and espersso love. They give me the energy I need and my digestive system tolerates them well. The only reason for the missing star is the sweetness, but I think there is no energy gel that is not too sweet for me.

Absolutely love the taste of these. Have been through two boxes of these already this summer and need another box. I think I will go and order them right now! They are essential for hot summer rides, easy to eat and digest and the salt is necessary (for me, anyway). Sometimes when youre riding a long time/distance and youre hot, the thought of eating anything, never mind a Gu which can be disgusting, is not worth thinking about. But these taste so good I have never felt like that ... definitely recommend if you like the taste of salted caramel anything.

I like both the taste and the consistency. It’s vanilla, but not overwhelming and it doesn’t repeat on me like some products do. The packaging is small with no sharp edges. Price is good when compared to similar products. The consistency is closer to pudding than runny liquid so I can eat it in two or three ‘slurps’ without it spilling over my fingers or worse still over the shifters on my bike over 30 seconds or so. I can’t speak to the amount of sodium, caffeine or amino acids but if I’m dragging this always peps me up.

I like the flavor of this product. It works well on longer bicycle rides. Really gives a shot of energy when you need it.

I have tried a large variety of GU gels (and similar gels made by other brands) over the course of several years of running. Pro: Like all GU gels, these have a nice, liquidy texture that helps swallowing mid-run easier than some of the stiffer gels (Clif!). Con: The Salted Caramel description suggests a nice balance between sweet and salty, but I found the actual flavor to be overwhelmingly sweet and artificial (relative to other GU gels--they all taste artificial to some degree, of course!), and had an off-puttingly cloying tinge to the flavor.
