Absolutely Excellent soldering station. So glad I bought a decent one.

The soldering station is everything I was hoping for. It is a five-star product. I deduct one star for the included accessories. Rather than provide an extra oversized cleaning wire (Hakko 599-029 - wrong part number for the Hakko FH-800 iron holder) that incidentally wont fit into the Hakko FH-800 iron holder (the Hakko 599-029 cleaning wire or tip cleaner refill is designed for use with the Hakko 599B Tip Cleaner which is not included with this soldering station package), it would have been more useful to provide an extra cleaning sponge (Hakko A1559 Cleaning Sponge for the FH-800 Iron holder) and/or the optional Rubber cleaner (Hakko B3474 Rubber Cleaner for FH-800) for the same price. The cleaning sponges dont last very long as compared to the cleaning wire which I dont think Ill have to replace in my lifetime. The correct replacement or extra cleaning wire for this Hakko FX888D Soldering Station is the Hakko A1561 Replacement Cleaning Wire for FH-800. Therefore, I dont need an extra cleaning wire much less one that wont fit the iron holder. The optional Rubber cleaner that fits on the lip the cleaning wire port on the FH-800 iron holder would have been a nice add-on. It would certainly have made this Hakko FX888D Soldering Station package more useful. I highly recommend the Hakko products, but not this particular combo deal. I suggest shopping for a Hakko FX888D Soldering Station package that doesnt include useless items such as the wrong sized extra cleaning wire.

Extremely good iron. I use it at work every day and is very consistent heats up fast and very durable. I have had this iron for 2.5 years now. Worth every penny.

This is hands down the very best Soldering Iron set up I have ever owned and I have owned quite a few. I highly recommend it. It comes with a number of extra iron tips all the way from tiny to very large. They send duplicate replacement tips in the box when they ship it. It gets hot immediately , it cools to another temperature quickly. It heats up when you turn it on right away, there is nearly no wait time. The temp control works great. It is super easy to use, super easy to change temps. It fits nicely in the hand. It is made of very sturdy materials. Changing tips is super easy and simple. Let me say this, sometimes I need an Iron to get really really hot (working on tube equipment) then I need it cool and even temperature..It does this without any problem whatsoever. Take it from me spend the extra few $ and win with this station. Yes, I own it. No I am not affiliated in any way.

Im an electronics technician by trade and love this soldering iron. I purchased this for my home lab. I decided on this iron because of other reviews and the price was within my budget. After many hours of use I am more than satisfied. It comes up to temp quickly, and maintains temp well when soldering non isolated ground plane pads. The tip selection is excellent for a kit. My only complaint would be that the tips take a little bit more time to swap out than Id like and would be a concern if used in a production setting. But for hobby use, it doesnt warrant knocking off a star. Overall, I couldnt be happier with this iron.

Dont waste your time and money on a no-name mediocre brand. If you are serious about soldering, this is what you want.

buy something you can keep use and enjoy for years the slight extra cost justifies having stable temperatures and the basic tips one needs for making things

Sooooooo much better than what I was using. Im glad I went for Hakko over Weller.

I got this station to replace my antique Weller that finally gave up the ghost. I really like this station, and wish I had upgraded earlier. The iron heats up very quickly, which is awesome, and maintains heat well. The only thing I do not like about it are the controls. Its easy for a first-timer (or second-timer, if they forget!) to screw up the calibration on the unit, when they think they are changing the temperature. Obviously, this is user error, but they could have made it more intuitive (or maybe more difficult to get into the calibration?). Id definitely recommend this station (and have done so many times). Everyone I know that has used one really likes it.
