Greater than one weekFirst time using a Hakko solder, I was impressed with how quickly it heats up. The plethora of soldering heads is a nice option to get the right solder head for the job. Very satisfied.

> 3 dayBest soldering iron I’ve ever used. I purchased mine two years ago and I can’t believe the quality of this great tool. When another reviewer writes something negative about this particular tool, they are not being honest. Look at all of the five star reviews for this iron and you will understand. There are very few items in this world that I would put my name on. This is one of them. This iron will run up to 850 degrees and it is measured at the tip. Not to mention it takes less than 30 seconds to get there. No kidding. 30 seconds. I use mine daily.

24-11-2024This is the best Iron I have yet owned and it perfect for the hobbyist but could easily see this used daily with hard use. The tips and all parts included in the kit are legitimate Hakko and very well made. Theres really very little missing to get you going on even complex projects (flux, wick, tinning, etc. are not really things i would expect in a kit). The really nice things I noticed quickly and still enjoy: fast warmup time, easy to configure and presets, so many great tips, the iron cord is so well made and very flexible yet durable. Next up is the Hakko desoldering gun.

> 3 dayThis Hakko FX888D is a far cry from the standard iron. Once learning the quite puzzling interface of the control unit(go to Hakko.com)this station works like a dream. Yes the interface takes a bit of a learning curve but is possible with a little persistence. Now that youre up and running, this unit does exactly what its supposed to. Heats quickly to set temperature, maintains and then once hand unit is placed back in holder it drops the temp to the idle setting. Uses T18 tips and theres a boat load of different ones. For the price and quality its hard to beat. Not a $600 station by no means, looks cartoon-ish but works like a champ for most jobs.
