This is awesome! Ive been tinkering with electronics on-and-off for over a decade. Only recently have I really gotten into hobbyist builds. In the past, Id just used cheaper irons. Ive tried both the typical Weller models, a soldering gun and a battery powered one. The Weller one was okay but took forever to heat. I unpacked it, plugged it in and turned it on. Its preset to a 750F default temperature. From the moment you hit the switch, it takes 41s to hit 750F. Never having used higher-quality irons like this, thats incredibly impressive... not to mention having a digital display that tells me its hot and ready is pretty sweet too. Its nice that it cools relatively quickly too, after turning it off. In the time it took me to write those last couple sentences, I turned it off. I turned it back on and it was at 430F. Not staying hot forever is a nice touch when youve got a toddler running around. The default tip is pretty nice. Ive used it a couple times to solder some simple connections and desolder some components from an old VCR with old, corroded and dirty connections. That little hole above the space for the sponge fits the included cleaning wire pretty well. A quick few seconds in there, followed by wiping it on the sponge and the tip was bright and shiny again. My old Weller one blackened that first day and has been garbage since. I havent tried the other tips it came with yet but theyre all branded Hakko so I can only assume theyre just as great. The sponge well is set in a bit to hold water beneath the sponge. This is actually pretty handy. Now the sponge doesnt dry out after a few hours of usage like cheap sponges in flat containers. The iron itself is pretty light and well-balanced so its not awkward to hold. The power cable from the iron the base is VERY light which surprised me considering how thick it is. Combine that with the couple feet of length and the cable rests on the table and the little bit youre supporting from the iron doesnt weigh the top of the handle down. The irons holder is a good weight, sits flat and even and has not-really-sticky-but-not-teflon-either rubber feet and doesnt tip or move when putting the iron in or taking it out. The base station is very heavy. It has a heavy duty power cable but having it on the edge of the table with the power cord hanging off doesnt pull it off the edge of the table owing to its weight and the rubber feet (a bit more sticky than those on the holder stand). It feels very solid. Ive had it on for a few hours and it doesnt get excessively hot and hasnt given me any problems so far. The unit came with all the extras in the photo: extra tips, two cleaning wires and the sponge. Ill be sure to update if I have any problems but, considering the quality Ive seen so far, I dont anticipate any. There are quite a bit of compensated reviews on here and since Im really, really pleased with this, I feel the need to state explicitly that this was not a compensated review of any kind. I just spent a lot of time researching soldering stations and settled on this one after reading all the great reviews elsewhere on the web.

I had no idea what a good station to do. I should not have waited and if youre in the market for a good soldering iron this station is well worth the money to have something you can depend on. No its not the ruggedest one out there or built like a tank like the old ones were. However this does do its job exceedingly well and simplify your work that needs to be done. Coming from any old Rat Shack iron to this was an eye opener. Having the luxury of switching tips for specific jobs helps immensely and is far easier than I was expecting.

VERY VERY GOOD!!! Heats up in Second. Temperature Controlled. Also I do not have much experience in soldering electronics, I was recommended this by a person who professionally repaired TV for 20 + years and reached upper level in business.

A quality soldering station with all the tools needed. It puts out a little or a lot of heat as needed and keeps it there. Dont throw away the instructions because youll need them to change parameters. This is not intuitive!

Nice to have a good soldering iron for once. This one comes with all the tips I think I will need. Heats up fast and stays clean.
