Gives you the illusion you can change the temperature. Take a thermal meter to it. It does not very temp, and barely will melt bigger solder joints,even with bigger tips. Maybe I got a defective unit. But dont waste your money.

Best soldering iron I’ve ever used. I purchased mine two years ago and I can’t believe the quality of this great tool. When another reviewer writes something negative about this particular tool, they are not being honest. Look at all of the five star reviews for this iron and you will understand. There are very few items in this world that I would put my name on. This is one of them. This iron will run up to 850 degrees and it is measured at the tip. Not to mention it takes less than 30 seconds to get there. No kidding. 30 seconds. I use mine daily.

Ive had this item for a while now. Im both sorry I didnt order sooner & yet glad that I took the time to research & find this brand. This is an excellent tool for contemporary, fine pitch work. Fast to heat, very stable temperature, very comfortable handle. The tips are easily interchangeable, which if youve been doing this awhile, you know is critical to getting the best results with different tasks. There is simply no comparison in quality between Hakko and the typical inexpensive, rather crude tools youll find in your local big box stores. Highly recommended!

works very well. I have soldered as hobbyist for about 30 years and have used both guns and irons. I thought I was pretty good at soldering and only occasion would have a hard time getting solder to flow. The HAkko Soldering station took my skill to the next level, and I havent experienced a single flow problem. Some reviews are negative on the lack of intuitive controls. They are mostly right, however I have had no issues adjusting the temperature. Its very easy to select and adjust the temperature, and I would not let that deter you from the purchase.

Exactly as advertised, perfect for casuals or beginners. UI is a little rough, but you get used to it.

Confirming that this is a genuine. This package also came with a lot of accessories: extra soldering tips and cleaning wire. Be sure to read the instructions so that you know how to set the temperature correctly. Once set, the station heats up in a reasonable time (less than 30 seconds). The station which contains both the cleaning wire, sponge, and soldering iron holder makes it convenient to do quick jobs.

I wish I would have bought this first instead of three poor products before hand. This thing heats up fast and delivers a consistent heat making soldering a breeze!
