Greater than one weekMy first impression was that this was lighter than most carpet cleaners Ive used, but that does not have an effect on its performance. This shampooer has a very strong suction and is super easy to use. Leaves the carpet just barely wet and the carpet dries very quickly after. Make sure to follow the directions and vacuum first! Also, do a rinse run after you do a shampoo run or the carpet will get stiff. The best for shampooing stairs!

> 3 dayI wanted to write this review after I’ve used it a few times. I previously had the bissell pro heat. All things are made of plastics now, it lasted about 3 years. I like that this unit has a separate container for clean water and dirty water. And they are huge. I love that it has separate soap dispenser then the clean water. You can wash an area and the flip the switch and rinse it without having to change out the container. My old unit had two long horizontal brushes, this one has several round brushes. I don’t feel I can go as fast as with the other but it seems to do a better job. I bought the one without heat and for that price I think it’s very good. My old unit had heat and it really didn’t seem to make a difference in the cleaning. I highly recommend buying this.

> 3 dayI absolutely love this machine! I researched for 3 months before purchase. I usually rent rug Doctor wide track and have been for years. Its a heavy machine but heavy duty so comparison in products to purchase was a hard sell. Ease of attachments: This was very versatile with little work. I cleaned my entire sectional (pets, kids, spills) in 15 minutes. The attachments water return is equal to what it puts out. I used the upholstery attachment here. Stairs: the machine not only has a long cord but also a long hose. We have 12 steps. I left the machine at the bottom of the stairs and completed 8. Then moved it to the top and completed the last 4. I used the stair, crevice and scrub power tool. AMAZING! The attachments and the hose come in a neat mesh hanger bag for easy storage. Dry time on the attachments are a little longer because the heat drying system is not distributed through the hose. No big deal it did a fantastic job! I only had to go over it once. I even did my car mats!! They look brand new, again, kids, dog, spills. Dog pee: My dog gets spiteful and will pee on my cream colored carpet!!! AHHH. Alot of the time these sit, gross!! The scrubbing power (5 rotating scrub brushes) had no problem erasing these in one pass. Oh yeah and no more odors! My pet isnt a smelly girl but after awhile the carpets just smell from her hair! Fresh smelling rooms when I was done. It is a good idea to run a rinse after the wash cycle. use less soap than the fill tank requires. Cut it by half and add water instead or youll have bubbles. No issue after decreasing amount. Weight: very light but durable. I have back and neck injuries and I could carry it even with a full tank. Easy to clean! With reading little direction ( although the pamphlet is very descriptive) the parts came off easily for cleaning and went back easily too! The tanks are easy release and easy to clean. Theres a quick pour spout on the dirty tank to allow quick emptying when still Cleaning and also a latch system that allows it to come apart when complete. Leaking: It didnt leak when moving it, when I used the hose attachment I didnt fasten it and hadnt realized for a minute. This was the only time I had any water on the floor. The gallon tank was helpful. I did my couch and the dog room on one tank before changing it. The water return also is exactly what it put out. You can run this machine dry without any issue like others in the past. We covered, cleaning, attachments, tank size, cord length, hose length, weight, leaking potential, pet stains. I think thats alot of ground! Oh and assembly was 1,2,3. Just take two screws into base of handle and go! No messing with hoses or any mechanical gadgets! Im extremely happy with this purchase. Hoover has not always had all my faith but for this machine we are going to become great friends. I have already told you it took 3 months of research. Im picky and needed alot from my chosen machine. All in all I give this machine a 5 out of a 5

> 3 dayThis carpet cleaner absolutely WILL get your carpets clean. I have owned many carpet cleaners in my time, and none of them have pulled up as much gross as this one has. To put this into perspective, I have 2 hairy cats, two hairy dogs ( GSD and a sharpei mix. Shedders for sure) as well as 3 children under the age of 10 who live their lives on a homestead. Messes are only second nature to us, and carpets are designed for destruction and gross collections. I go over a carpet twice and its coming up almost clean on the second round. It also pulls almost as much water as it puts down. Full and empty almost at the same time. The downside - people are NOT kidding when they say it has a small tank. I went over this small section twice and filled/emptied the tank 4 times. I understand if the tank was any bigger, this cleaner would be downright heavy and hard to move, but alas it still sucks to have to run up and down the stairs to fill it. In spite of this, I would still purchase this carpet cleaner again :)

> 3 dayEasy to use, cleans very well. My two complaints are the float valve constantly closes, with the slightest bump, forcing you to shut it off until the float opens up. Super annoying as it also doesn’t allow the tank to fill fully. Second, the handle latch and on off switch are smooth plastic, making your foot slip off them when using, especially on wet carpet, also super annoying.

19-11-2024The absolute best investment to date. I am just blown away at how clean my carpet is. Easy to use. Easy to clean. Best decision I’ve made by purchasing this carpet cleaner.

Greater than one weekHaving owned a Bissell for 10 years, it finally crashed, and the search to replace was on. Visited Costco and they had another Bissell, but after looking it over, just wasn’t impressed with the changes made on the newest model. An internet search gave two choices – Hoover or Bissell. Hoover had the top 4 models, and after seeing what Bissell was selling, went for Hoover. Guess what, Hoover has a dozen different models. After reading a 100+ reviews on various models, I Chose the FH50150 (#3 on the list). And could not be happier. Pro’s: Easy assembly. Each tank slips-in, or locks in-place without having to force it – just take your time; access to tanks – excellent. No belt drive for brushes and they clean better than a roller bar since they scrub in multiple directions. Waste water container is separate. Rinse option – big plus. No hoses or attachments connected, only connect when needed – this too is a big plus as attachments get in the way when cleaning the carpet. Dis-assembly for cleaning is easy. Con’s: Power cord too short, could use another 5 feet, 10 feet would be better. Cleaner mix is preset. Having used multiple machines, degrees in cleaning carpet are all about the same on the surface. However, brushes scrub deeper, in multiple directions, and fluff up the pile better; this also loosens the fibers better for cleaning and allows more water to be sucked out – which reduces drying time. You can feel the difference when walking barefoot on the carpet – softer. If you haven’t cleaned your carpet in years and its really bad – call a professional Steam cleaner, or you will be there all day just to clean. This is not to say that the Hoover can’t do the job, but it is made to maintain, and if used regularly will keep carpet clean and fresh – will never need to call Stanley again. First time Carpet Cleaning techniques: First, pre-vacuum Slowly and in multiple directions. A good vacuum will pull up all the hair, dust, loose dirt, and open the carpet fibers for cleaning – if done correctly you won’t muck-up the carpet cleaner brushes with hair and loose fiber when you wash carpet. Second, use boiling hot water, pour into fill tank (it can take it), select rinse only, apply water while pushing slowly forward and then apply water while slowly pulling back over the same area. Slow is the key. One tank will do an 8 x 8 area, and take about 3-5 minutes. After initial rinse – repeat entire process with the second pass in a different direction. This loosens the fibers, gets out a ton of dirt, and prepares the fibers for cleaning. Next, add cleaner to tank (don’t fill to top). Continue using boiling hot water. Select wash and First apply while pushing slowly. Note: when pulling, the vacuum will suck up the soapy water as soon as you put it down, you need to give the soap an opportunity to get in there and clean. Then continue applying wash while pulling back over same area – you can pull back a little faster. After fill tank is empty, go over area again. This allows brushes to work fibers and remove excess water, you can also do this step a little faster. Move on to next section of carpet and repeat till room is washed. If you have light colored carpets, may want to do this whole wash process twice. Now its time to rinse the Carpet. First, empty out any cleaner in the fill tank, the selector may leak a little. Next, fill with Boiling hot water. Select rinse, and apply water while Pulling back only, and do this slowly. Then push forward over the same area to suck up any remaining water and dirt, Do Not Apply Water. Continue. If you are getting a lot of suds in the waste bucket, may need to rinse area again – recommend rinse area twice. After final rinsing, here is a technique. Do another rinse, only this time add about 2 tbl spoons of Downy fabric softener to the water (can use cold, but recommend hot). Use the same rinse technique and apply – this can go a little faster. Leaves a clean fresh smell. Allow carpet to dry, then vacuum. You will notice carpet is significantly softer. Average bedroom takes about an hour, living rooms about 3-4. If you have established dirt paths in your carpet, go over area 4-5 times, and always overlap. Don’t be discouraged after a dozen passes and you are still sucking up dirty water, it’s just the way it is. The key is Hot Water, and go slow. If dirt comes back around old stains after a couple of weeks, most likely too much soap was used and not rinsed out. Hot water rinse with the machine will usually take care of it, this also works well for new pet stains. Have had good success Using Platinum Plus for pets for cleaning stains. If you have a lot of pets, mixing a ¼ to ½ cup of vinegar in the final rinse works. However, it takes a while for the vinegar to evaporate, especially in humid regions, and this may affect the carpet, and this may strip out anti-stain in the carpet – test first. For stains that won’t come out – a weak bleach solution – suggest “Clorox Cleanup”, sprayed on the area and lightly scrubbed in with a wet rag works well. Allow to sit for a minute, use the hot water rinse and go over about 3 times. Repeat until stain is gone – also, overspray around stain to “Blend out” the bleaching process or you will have a white spot (do a little at a time and you will be all right). Last words on the Hoover. Dis-assembly for cleaning is simple and easy. Wash everything, be sure to clean black filter screen in waste water tank, allow all to dry, assemble and put away. If vacuum isn’t working while in use, dump waste water and try again. Sometimes just taking waste water tank off and re-seating does the trick. If water is too sudsy, will cause yellow float in waste water tank to stop suction – dump out water and rinse lid, or turn off, allow float to drop, and turn back on.

Greater than one weekI have carpet that’s really brand new, only six months old, but because it’s very light, it took stains quickly, even though I had people takeoff their shoes. I couldn’t find a carpet cleaner who would work Highup on a penthouse, so I decided to just buy one and see how it went. I figured I could return it if it didn’t actually work. That’s the thing I like about Amazon. I think the picture speaks for itself. The carpets were badly soiled and you can see on the middle strip where I cleaned only one side, that the clean side is almost like brand new. I’ve never written a review before, but I’m motivated to do this, because it worked beyond my expectations

> 3 dayOkay, so the thing is more lightweight than my old hoover shampooer and makes much less noise. It does a good job as far as I can tell cleaning the carpet and throw rugs. Have to give it 5*s on that count but I could not find hoover shampoo at Walmart so I brought an off-brand. But could not be sure how much to add to the soap dispenser because I didnt know how much water the other half of the dispenser held. I had to get an empty gallon container and pour it into the water side of the tank to know how much of shampoo solution to add to the other half. In the end, it was way too soapy as I probably put in too much. Whatever. I used it anyway. THEN here is the part to be careful about (the design flaw). The dirty water container has two latches, one on each end. I unlatched the wrong end and then when i picked the dirty water tank up and out to dump it... it released dirty water all over the floor! Luckily it was on a tile floor and i re-attached the dirty water tank and sucked it right up. Now that I made that mistake once, wont be doing THAT again. Overall, now that i have gotten the hang of it, its going to be just fine. I like Hoover products. I used my old hoover shampoo for nearly 10 years and let my family borrow it too. I have a hoover vac that is awesome and love it. It was great and this one is going to be great too now that Ive made a few mistakes and figured out how to use it properly. I recommend it overall with the above caveats. Hope my review helps someone.
