> 3 dayIve used a handful of home carpet shampooers and a professional one rented from the grocery store and this one is by far my favorite. WEIGHT This is the lightest shampooer Ive used which makes pushing it around the whole house a breeze and much easier on my hands and back. Very easy to maneuver. WATER TANK The water tank holds about a gallon of water plus cleaning solution which is not a lot so Im frequently emptying and refilling the tanks, but this helps to keep the weight down so I dont have a problem with it. I really appreciate that when emptying the dirty tank you can choose to pour the dirty water out through a spout instead of taking the whole lid off. I didnt know how much I would like this feature until I tried it! No splashing mucky water everywhere! Both the water and solution entry areas are easily accessible. CLEANING POWER I have two boys who have an amazing ability to get everything dirty and a cat who likes to barf on the floor. My carpets are very old and get REALLY dirty. Its also been a long time since Ive had access to a carpet shampooer. Pictured is a high traffic area with some bonus cat barf on it and after one pass through it was so much cleaner! I have used a shampooer that did a little better cleaning on the first pass, but it was heavy, leaked, it was hard to clean, left the floors too wet, etc. For super dirty areas I go over the carpet twice and Im very happy with the results. It also left the carpet so fluffy. After going over the carpet 2-4 times on dry mode (not spraying water) the carpets were almost dry, which is a huge plus. I cant keep people/pets off the carpets for long around here so this is great. ATTACHMENTS It comes with a hose, an upholstery attachment, a stair attachment, an edge cleaner and an attachment with a spinning brush. The hose is super simple to attach to the machine. Ive seen some reviewers that didnt like the spinning brush attachment, but I love it. The first stair in my house is where everyone sits to put on and take off their shoes so it gets really dirty and the spinning brush scrubbed that sucker so clean. CLEANING THE VACUUM Anything on here that touches dirty water is amazingly easy to remove and clean! The brushes pull right off, the part on the front that sucks the water up lifts off easily after lifting a lever, which in turns exposes the filter, and the dirty tank opens all the way to get it clean. No hidden hoses or tight areas. This is huge for me. I have used a shampooer that was nearly impossible to clean and half my time was spent cleaning the carpet where the shampooer made it DIRTIER. Or trying to reach in with tweezers to get out a clump of cat fur that was stopping up the machine. Ugh. Because its so easy to clean I am much more likely to clean it after using it, which will extend the life of the shampooer. This is a big deal and this machine excels in this area. I wish my regular vacuum was this easy to clean! POWER CORD Its pretty short. Prepare to either use an extension cord or regularly plug it into a closer outlet as you move around. Either solution is not a big deal. NOISE Naturally, its a little loud. But not as loud as most of the ones Ive used - the one from the grocery store was so screaming loud I had to use ear plugs because my ears hurt after just a couple minutes. When I use it I pop in some ear plugs and listen to a podcast and everything is fine. TL;DR Buy this machine. Its lightweight, a joy to use and so easy to clean. Its easy to assemble out of the box (just two screws in the handle) and works well. Highly recommended. Seriously, stop looking and just get it. Your carpets and your back will thank you.

Greater than one weekI like this machine! We previously had a different brand, and we had to take it apart several times to get the suction going again/get it to work at all. It just stopped being worth the hassle. I wont name the brand, because we also had a house dog while we owned that shampooer, and now we dont. So a comparison may not be fair. Some people are complaining about certain things. I dont presume that they dont have valid complaints, but I will address a couple of them from my experience. I will also mention a few things Ive learned. Rusting/freezing up: I have used it probably 5 times, and have not had a problem. I always go over the carpet with just suction when I am done cleaning. I dump the water out of the clean and dirty tanks. I clean the filter and let it, and the dirty water tank, air dry before putting it back together. Maybe these steps help with the rust issue. Leaking: the only leak problem I had was on the first use: the soap dispenser drained completely, after only using it on one small carpet. I knew that was way too much soap (but wow, the carpet was clean!) I contacted customer service online. The guy was sympathetic but said he had never heard of this problem. I said I would try it again to see if it did it again, suspicious that I had done something wrong. My conclusion: user error. When replacing the dirty water tank, there is a lock on the front of the machine. It should snap into place and make a noticeable click when it is correctly placed. When it was not nested correctly, it caused the soap release button to be continuously pressed, causing soap to dispense all the time. So I have not ever had that problem again. Customer service: The rep I spoke with emailed me with a follow-up note, to ask if I was still having problems. I was impressed that he took that step. Since I had fixed my own error, all was well. I did not need further help, so I cant comment on how that might have gone. This cleans well, but Im sure it is not as good as a commercial shampooer. I have found that I may need to spot-treat some stains. For food or pet stains, one or two treatments with a pet stain cleaner with enzymes, prior to shampooing, does wonders. For very dirty, high traffic areas, I hit those first with the wash setting. Then I go over the entire carpet on the wash setting, then rinse well, and one more time with no just suction. I do think that the drying feature seems to dry it more than my previous machine did. My previous machine also had a heater for the clean water. This machine does not. I only fill it with hot water, and it is used up within 15 minutes, so I think this works just fine. One irritation I have is that the tanks never need attention at the same time, and I found myself stopping every five minutes to dump the dirty water, or fill the soap or clean water reservoirs. So now if one tank needs attention, I take both and dump/refill all in one trip. I can keep going longer that way. A very simple fix. There are attachments to use on upholstery or small areas. They are stored in a bag, which is not as convenient as having them all snapped right onto the machine. I have not used them yet, so I cant comment on how well those work. Also, I do not use the Hoover brand of soap. I make my own. I know that this is not recommended, and may void any warranty. Do so at your own risk, but I have not had any problems doing so. This was $130 when I bought it in 2018, and I have used it several times. We dont have a lot of carpet, but ours gets pretty dirty. My nearest place to rent a commercial shampooer is 20 miles away, and it costs $30 per day to rent. I have gotten my moneys worth out of this machine already. I hope it keeps running for a long time, but even if it doesnt, I am a satisfied customer. I am paying for convenience-no trips to pick up and return- as well as cleaning my carpet. If I wanted one to last for years and years, I would not expect to pay this amount. I am sad that some manufactured things these days end up being disposable, but I also dont want to fork over 3-5 times the amount for a more heavy-duty machine.

> 3 dayThis carpet cleaner has seen things... indescribable things that no one shall see or smell. Ever. We use the carpet cleaner for all over cleans along with larger spots. But let me tell you a story that goes down in history... One day, my brother wanted my son and I to come over for dinner and so he could see his nephew. I told him that I wasn’t really sure my 150lb Pitt/Great Dane mix was feeling that great. She had the runs the night before but it seemed to be drying up. He, naturally being a brother, claimed I was using that weak excuse to get out of coming over. This peer pressure set in. I let my dog out one last time and left. For way too long. Keep in mind, my down stairs all hard flooring. The dogs have access to that, the carpeted stairs, and a small hallway of carpet. Should be fine. Narrator: It was not fine. Cue my return to the distinct smell of explosive diarrhea. The smell has filled the house. I see a couple of poo streaks down stairs and think, wow, what a stench for a few streaks. Oh but wait, there’s more. I slowly creep up the stairs and see brown spots as I climb up. Please no. Oh but wait, there’s more! I reach the top and see a few more small spots. Okay not terrible. BUT OH WAIT, THERES MORE!! I turn the corner and low and behold, a fecal nightmare. At this point, you know I have a big dog and there’s poo on some carpet. Big dogs = big poos. Not only were there two large streaks of runs and plops of patties all over. The dog done pooed up the bathroom door. Still not sure on the logistics but there was splatter and patter because it was on the door, the frame, and somehow the half wall on the other side. Now... the moment you’ve all been waiting for. The cleanup. I picked up as much waste as I could using the ole ‘hand in the bag’ technique so there was minimal solid waste. Keep in mind, the waste is cold so it’s been here a hot minute. I then pretreated with the Hoover pretreat spray, which I also highly recommend. Next was busting out the power scrub deluxe with pet cleaner shampoo. This cleaner scrubbed like there was no tomorrow. I had to do a little more than the manual recommended passes but not only do I not see any evidence from the crime committed, I can lay my face on the crime scene and SMELL NOTHING. NOTHING!!! This horrifying episode alone earned every penny spent on the carpet cleaner. Thanks for a great product Hoover and those who took this story journey with me. Always remember to immediately clean your machine afterwards so it doesn’t get smelly.

> 3 dayMy wife loves this shampooer. We have two dogs, one is a puppy and a 4 yr old so accidents are unavoidable. My wife uses this constantly on the rugs and on the furniture to clean up. It does a great job

> 3 daySome reason I thought this was specifically for cleaning pet homes but I misread something somewhere anyways. It took me a couple tries to figure it out. I initially used too much product/water I think and it took more than 24 hours to dry even with using dry strokes. Just using the drying feature doesnt completely dry the carpet either which is kind of disappointing but once you figure out the criss cross method and careful about the amount of water/solution it takes probably 10 hours to dry after you get tired of trying to dry it through dry strokes. The thing I dislike so far is I have used it to clean our apt (its pretty small) but I have had to refill the water tank 3 times but the dirty water tank has barely any water in it. Im a lil concerned about that but maybe I should have researched the type of carpets we have? They are like medium long fibers. Im just concerned theres abunch of water underneath the carpet now... I also have a crappy vacuum cleaner but it usually does an okay job however when going over with the carpet cleaner it continuously spits out balls of hair instead of sucking it up. Even if you use the hose to do that it still spits hair out. Now that could just be the crappy vacuum and the weird carpet we have its harder to pull the hairs out... Overall I do love this as the house smells so much better. We were dealing with my cat marking all over the place and spots still smelling like pee but with this it smells very clean. I do wish the cleaner came in better scent but its better than cat pee! I havent pulled it apart to clean yet as I still have a couple pieces of furniture Im going to clean and then see how that goes. I think this product would be perfect for someone who either has a good vacuum cleaner or doesnt have pets or long carpet hairs.

> 3 dayLet me say first that this is my time owning a carpet cleaner so keep that in mind. The room will get hot and humid but Im guessing thats normal for this or I just overdid it because of how nasty the carpet squares were in the basement. It would be nice if the tanks on it were bigger but I know that would make it even more heavy so I understand why theyre a gallon each. The power cord might be a bit short too but they might all be this long. Make sure to use a proper high suction vacuum on the carpet beforehand. Go in each direction twice all over the carpet so that all the junk in the carpet is removed and doesnt end up in the carpet cleaner as well as the cleaner having to clean it instead of just cleaning the carpet. Pros: The unit does a very good job cleaning the floor and the dirty water tank is easy to empty as well as snap back in. The water/soap tank being in one unit is very nice and its removal is easy as well. I havent used the attachments yet so I cant comment on them but will update later once I do. I used Oxiclean the first time with white vinegar to clean and it did a good job and I just used a pet order cleaner/remover and that did a great job too. There wasnt much to put together when it arrived so that was nice. The pour spout on the front of the dirty water tank is excellent at dumping the rubbish water quickly. Taking the dirty water tank apart to clean is quick and easy and rinsing it out is pretty quick too once you learn what angles to have the water shoot in as you rotate it. The flip up connector that holds the dirty water tank in is quick to work if you just pull up on it with a flick and let it flop down and out of the way. Even though only two screws hold in the handle I have pulled it around and torqued on it getting it to hit certain areas and its rock solid still. This is after 20 hours of use. I had used it over 4 hours in a few a few times while trying to clean the basement. I did have to go up and down the stairs a lot to dump, rinse and fill but thats still a long time of pretty much direct use. It does a very good job of sucking up the water to the point that when all of the soap has been rinsed out of the carpet that there isnt much moisture to suck up. The carpet is a bit damp but not soggy and when you run the unit over it you cant really see anything being sucked up besides a tiny amount of liquid barely sliding up the dirty water tank lid where it enters on top. The price is very nice too after looking at all of the options. Spending more on a cleaner doesnt mean its better or will last longer, thats why I got from all of the reviews here and other legit sites. It really does clean edge to edge of the cleaner because of the brush and vacuum design up front. Cons: The unit is heavy and when you pull back slowly it wants to slide away from the wall slightly so you have to press the side to keep it up against it. Im not sure if its leaking because running one of these creates water everywhere from dumping and loading. The power lever on the base is too small to get with the top leaned back. It really need to have a function to turn off the scrubbers and also to turn off the suction independently. Latching the dirty water tank back up is annoying because as you flip the latch up to lock it in there are times it would miss the edge of the dirt water tank and get stuck up and next to it so its a pain to pop back out and then try to latch it again. This is after everything on the cleaner is wet and dumping it a lot during use. When you press the power button you can see the water that was being sucked up bubble down to the carpet and can see its wet when you move it. The water/soap trigger is not far enough back in the handle and the handle is huge like they made that part for Andre the Giant. After a long time of using it my fingers started to get tired because of this. I dont know if this typical of these machines but it is crazy loud. I use my active noise cancelling earbuds when using it and its still loud, the high pitched part is what gets me. When there is too much foam in the dirty tank the overflow floater pops up and you have to tilt the dirty water tank back to get a few extra passes and then dump it with the container only being half full of water. You have to angle the vacuum piece just at the proper angle to slide it back in after removing it to clean the fuzz filter for the vacuum part of it.

> 3 dayI wanted to write this review after I’ve used it a few times. I previously had the bissell pro heat. All things are made of plastics now, it lasted about 3 years. I like that this unit has a separate container for clean water and dirty water. And they are huge. I love that it has separate soap dispenser then the clean water. You can wash an area and the flip the switch and rinse it without having to change out the container. My old unit had two long horizontal brushes, this one has several round brushes. I don’t feel I can go as fast as with the other but it seems to do a better job. I bought the one without heat and for that price I think it’s very good. My old unit had heat and it really didn’t seem to make a difference in the cleaning. I highly recommend buying this.

Greater than one weekAbout 25 or so years ago, I decided I was going to make some quick money by getting into the carpet cleaning business so I bought some heavy duty equipment; an Electrolux Epic Pro scrubber, Riccar upright vacuum and a Bissell Mean Green machine to use an an extractor. I never made any money, much less quick money, but I have had that equipment with me ever since and it still works as well today as when it was bought. It has been used, borrowed, abused and used some more. I decided I needed a new machine, an all-in-one, because I got tired of lugging everything out, dragging hoses, cords, spot cleaners and so on to clean a small area. So I researched, and researched, and researched some more and decided to buy a Bissell Big Green Commercial unit. As I began to order it, the thought of spending $400 on a giant 50 lb machine I have to drag out every time I need to clean a spot seemed to go against what I was trying to do. Then it dawned on me, Oh yeah, I have an upstairs.. Nope. Im not dragging that thing around. Then there are the times when it will be borrowed and I will have to lift it, load it, unload it, etc. So I backed out. I decided on the Hoover Scrub Deluxe based on reviews and ordered it through Amazon. Amazingly it arrived one day early on the two day shipping. Thanks Amazon or UPS or whomever is responsible. Anyway, here are my thoughts on it. Just so you know, I have high pile carpets so this machine is already at a bit of a disadvantage. Im going to start with cons: *The handle is not that robust and cheaply attached. Use caution not to put undue lateral pressure on it to force the machine around. It works fine for back-and-forth motion. *The gasket on the bottom of the fresh water tank is cheap. It leaks. It will wear out rapidly. Go ahead and order a couple and keep them on hand. *The solution and fresh water fill ports are identical. The identifiers are molded into the plastic and easy to overlook. Grab some markers and label them. *The tanks are small and go through water quickly. Just cleaning the main walkways in a small room necessitated about three fill-ups and dumps. BTW, remember the cheap gasket? Since you have to remove the water tank to fill it up so many times, it leaks momentarily every time you reinstall it but mine sealed off eventually after each tank install. It might be better to set the water tank on the machine so the fill tank doesnt leak and then just fill it in place with a gallon jug or something. * The cord is short. Im assuming the big companies must T&E folks with tiny houses because cords on home appliances are always too short. Just grab a 6 extension cord as thats about how much more you need. One other thing, and if it wasnt for the fact I have to box and ship the machine this *might* be deal breaker as it bothers me that much, the cord is routed through the bottom of the machine so you will run over it constantly. Yeah, there is a holding clip on the handle but now the cord is about 2 shorter so Im having to whip the cord like a cowboy lassoing a calf to keep it out from under the wheels. Come on Hoover, or China or whatever. Stop that crap. *The scrub brush. Im pretty sure they just stuck that thing on there to say it has one. It freely floats about 2 with very little down pressure and the bristles are fine and soft. What the heck is that thing for anyway? Its darn sure not scrubbing anything. Its probably better to just take it off as its just in the way. Okay, so now the pros: Now, you might think from what I listed above that I hate this machine. Actually I was somewhat impressed with it. Im not sure how it cleans with that crappy little scrub brush but it looked like I was pulling chocolate milk out of my carpets. I regularly vacuum and just did some carpet cleaning about a week ago so I was a little disgusted. This little machine is phenomenal when it comes to spraying and suction and this is where it shines. Its not a carpet scrubber. You would need to buy a dedicated unit for that job. This is an extractor and a darn good one. I used the Hoover soap solution that was included but as soon as I opened the container, I wasnt a fan of the soapy smell. I went ahead and mixed up a 1/2 soap 1/2 water mix on the solution side (and eventually went to 1/3 soap 2/3 water) but started cleaning the carpet with straight ol hot tap water. In case youre wondering, the tank is split with a rinse side for straight water and a wash side for water soap mix. I did a standard rinse pushing forward, extract pulling back and was amazed at how well it worked. Just using hot tap water worked as well as the solution but I went ahead and injected a little Hoover soap into the carpet. Its not so bad when greatly diluted so no headaches. Most of the carpets were okay enough to walk on with bare feet within about 30 minutes, although not dry. Im writing this within an hour of finishing the cleaning so they are still damp. I figure a few hours and we will be good to go. So, what do you get for $140? Well, you get a China-plastic machine with upholstery attachments that has small tanks, leaks a little right out of the box and has a useless scrub brush but somehow still cleans carpets pretty well. I think its a little overpriced for what it is but for small rooms and spot cleaning it should be worth it if the longevity is there. If you really want to make your carpets clean, in this price range I think you would be hard pressed to find a unit with better spraying and suction short of buying a heavy-duty commercial unit. Just buy an actual carpet scrubber with real nap lifters in conjunction with the Hoover. Vacuum really well, then scrub your carpet, extract using hot water with the Hoover then, if you have high pile or plush carpets, go back over your carpet with the nap lifters. It will look brand new again.
