I absolutely love the entire series as well as this movie!

terrible acting...hokey plot....but a classic Barnabas Collins!

Love everything about Dark Shadows.

This is one of my favorite movies of all times... I loved the Original TV series and even the revival... but this version of DS is still my favorite one, it has more gore, and is Darker than the series, and Barnabas seems to be a little different. House of Dark Shadows is one of my dearest memories, not to mention that I have the opportunity to meet Jonathan Frid, I was so hooked to it that almost every night I went to bed, I had nice dreams around the story, hahaha. Thats why I fell in love at the first sight. I wonder why it is not available on DVD yet? Please soon release a DVD full of extras... for the love of God

Dont waste your time on that CGI laden, mickey-taking Tim Burton remake - treat yourself to the original Dark Shadows movie, directed by Dan Curtis, the creator of the original series. Why waste your time on a pale, pointless copy when you can have the real thing? Curtis wanted to make a film that was accessible to casual viewers, as well as die-hard lovers of the TV series and he makes sure that anyone can enjoy it, fans and non-fans alike. Barnabas Collins is a vampire who was chained in his coffin 200 years ago - now hes free and returns to Collinwood, the ancestral home. Here he meets a young lady called Maggie Evans, who he believes to be a reincarnation of his lost love, Josette. Barnabas undead nature is suspected by a couple of scientists, one of whom falls in love with him and tries to cure his vampirism. She succeeds, but when she realises that Barnabas is only interested in Maggie, she betrays him - with horrific consequences. Faithful to the series, but expanding his canvas with widescreen photography, lavish sets and exteriors, and the kind of bloody violence (for its time) that was out of the question on the TV show, Curtis has fashioned a most entertaining modern day vampire movie. Incidentally, the product details on Amazon say its 1.33:1, but happily this is incorrect. Its a solid 16:9 anamorphic transfer.

We love scary movies and this had a little bit of everything. Definitely a notch above the recent movie. Couldnt compare!

I love Dark Shadows, and this movie is a slightly darker, more realistic showing of that soap opera without the bloopers we have all come to love. Buy the entire series to get the full experience, I plan to.
