I have not seen the full, uncut version of House of Dark Shadows since its initial release in 1970. It is based on the Barnabas Collins story from ABC-TVs soap-opera Dark Shadows. The movie looks great, considering it is over 40 years old. It is great to see Jonathan Frid in his glory.

Jonathan Frid is Barnabas Collins. This Barnabas is more cunning and evil. He manages to kill off most of the family before he is dispatched in Vampire fashion. A great take on the Soap Opera Vampire story.

Great movie. Havent seen in years, this is what horror movies should be like.Blood and suspense and that music that keeps you on edge.

The House of Dark Shadows movie was scarier than some of the stories in the TV show. This movie was a professionally excellent movie production. Nancy Barretts character (I believe it was Carolyn, but maybe it was another character.) wore a partially sheer gown that showed her breasts. How naughty. The ending may please some viewers and fans of the original TV show.

The new one staring the pirate and directed by that depressed goth guy can go ahead and fade into oblivion. Dark Shadows is not a comedy, it is based on a true story that took place between 1968 and 1972 about a vampire, a witch, love, sedatives and brandy. This particular movie neglected to mention the witch, or the brandy.... but thats what the DvD collectors set is for. To true Dark Shadows fans, the following should be noted. Alexandra Moltke, the original star of this show was unfortunately not in this movie. Her sleeveless dresses and dark hair were sorely missed. Damn it Dan Curtis, why didnt you let her come back to the show as a villain!? She was willing to do that! I have like ten scripts of how that could have worked out and will be sending them to you in a time machine to fulfill this day dream.... Im ranting.
