> 3 dayIve not even SEEN the DVD re-release yet.....but, the only way to have this before now (but for grungy poor quality VHS to DVD pirated copies) -and- (did you notice - all the places that had this for sale on dvd before they announced the release October 2012, suddenly, no longer have them for sale?) -- even then, loved it and joined any on-line petition to get it released. More of us Baby Boomers late 50s kids, that have the fun memories of running home after school like little banshees - to catch the 3:30 PM TV series.....but my love of horror started there and I still enjoy it, having bought the TV dvd series and re-watch it all, once a year. When the series went off the tube (reportedly the execs felt only teens were watching it and teens dont buy dishsoap and sponsor products) Dan Curtis released this film, sort of encapsulated the series into a movie and ---- God Bless him----let blood and real drama take it over. Seeing Barnabas with Caroline pinned down, and bitting and shaking at her throat like a dog taking down a rabbit - still is a little chilling ---and that good old original Dark Shadows musical score.....*sigh* gotta love it!...cannot wait to get this in a clean format and stereo.....crank that volume up, baby!

> 3 dayFINALLY !! House of Dark Shadows is on DVD in anamorphic widescreen. The remastered picture quality is just fantastic. I bought the regular DVD and also the Blu-ray version. I can recommend both. As a life long Dark Shadows fan I have longed for this movie to be released on DVD. One can finally see that the dates on Carolyns crypt are 1947-1970. In the VHS and Laserdisc versions you could not see the 1947 date clearly leaving fans to wonder about the correct year. The only disappointment is the lack of special features. The DVD includes only the theatrical trailer, and its not the best transfer Ive seen of the trailer. The colors in the trailer appear just a bit washed out. The Laserdisc had a more colorful copy of the trailer in my opinion and the vintage TV spots which promoted the movie back in 1970, which were special features on the Laserdisc release, are not included on the DVD release. But, Im still very pleased to finally have HODS remastered and released on DVD. Thanks Warner Bros.

> 3 dayThis movie is finally coming out on blu-ray and dvd. Its probably because of the newer one acted by, Johnny Depp. When I saw this movie many years ago, it really scared me. The series was eerie and scary also. Jonathan Frid was very creepy and strange looking to me. He was definitely the perfect vampire. This movie have characters from the show, which give it a more authentic feeling. It is bloody, but not over the top. I enjoyed the acting and the usual story line. Cant wait to own it, which in the past, others have sold it for unreasonable prices. I finally was able to purchase this movie, with a selling date of October 30, 2012. After watching most of the movie, the picture showed pretty well. The color was nice and the sound quality was fine as well. Again, Iam happy this movie finally came out at an affordable price for purchase.

> 3 dayThis is one of only a couple of movies that I ever sat through twice in the theater. It was so good when it came out. Of course, I am a die-hard Dark Shadows fan. I am so pleased to have my own DVD of this cult classic thriller.

Greater than one weekJust like all of the M-G-M promotion said in 1970 for House of Dark Shadows, come and see how the vampires do it. This movie was very well made by director Dan Curtis and company. The daytime drama cast are wonderful reprising there roles in the movie. Too bad though that Joan Bennett did not have more sceens then she did. Everything just seemed to go right for this movie. The acting, music, writting and the wonderful on location shooting throughout New England. Lyndhurst Estates was the perfect Collinwood next to Seaview Terrace(Carey Mansion). I recommend this movie for fans of Dark Shadows and just vampires in general, because there are a lot of vampires in this movie. So come and see how the vampires do it!

Greater than one weekFor fans of the television show, if they imagine that the plot happened in a parallel universe. Using many characters from the classic Dark Shadows television series, and placing the characters in different situations that only some of which occurred in the series, this film is best enjoyed by fans, by considering it yet another parallel time -type of plot. If the viewer keeps that in mind, it is quite enjoyable.
