Infant Optics Wide Angle Lens For DXR-8

> 24 hourThis is the lens that Infant Optics should include with the baby monitor from the factory. The viewing angle is much better/wider than the zoom lens or when using just the “hood“ lens. Additionally, infrared night vision is not impaired (at least not for our unit that was purchased around 06/2019).

> 24 hourWe have this monitor in a room with a toddler in a toddler bed. He is able to get out of the bed on his own. With this lens on the baby monitor, we can see almost the entire room, and hear him, too. It is super-awesome! The night mode gives a green picture and is sometimes grainy, but pretty OK given that it is really dark in the room.

> 24 hourWow! I ordered based on the reviews and I am very happy I did it. It works great! The picture of this Infant Optics DXR-8 monitor is very clear and it picks up the sound very well. I can hear my baby boy breathing. I added another camera with the wide angle lens for my four year old daughters room and I can say it is well worth the investment. I can see her entire room. I wish I could see both rooms in the same time but the 10 seconds alternate view works too. Another great thing is the battery life, amazing. Overall a great product! It looks like this company listened to the customers complaints about the competitors products and tried to build the perfect video monitor. A little over $300 (including the two year protection plan) might seem expensive but I did not mind spending a little more for the best video monitor out there.

> 24 hourThe most important time for a camera to work for me is at night when the little one is sleeping. I can’t tell if his eyes are open or closed. If he has his pacifier. It’s not 50 feet away it’s super close to not work correctly. This lens isn’t very good for that. It’s blurry. The attached lens this camera comes with is great just a little too close but this one didn’t solve that problem. Not sure why it’s such bad night vision from 3 feet away.

> 24 hourDefinitely helps us see all three of our kids in their room when its mounted high enough. The problem is this lens isnt as crisp in the darkness as the original lense that came with our Infant Optics monitor. We hesitate to go back to the original because we like the wide angle, but it can be hard to make out details at night. We find ourselves staring a little too close at the monitor trying to figure out whos crying or moving around. 4 stars though because I like it.

> 24 hourThere is a glare on the night vision that isn’t there with the regular lens. It doesn’t change what you can see too much, but it’s annoying.

> 24 hourJust got this today and I have to say its an instant game changer. Our playroom is long and it was impossible to keep my constantly moving toddler in frame. I put on this wide angle lens and I can see more than half the room on the monitor at a time. Its great! Its very clear when theres a lot of light and seems about as grainy as the regular lens so all in all a great improvement.

> 24 hourThis lens is good during the day providing sharp wide picture of the baby room. Unfortunately, it is absolutely useless at night even with low light on in the room. I have purchased Infant Optics DXR-8 baby video monitor for my sons room because it included night vision feature allowing us to keep track on him without disturbing his sleep. The original lens that came with the camera does a great job, but the provides limited field of view only covering about a 1/4 of the 9 x 9 room. Wide angle lens allows us to see most of the room and actually provides sharper picture compared to the original lens. However, it seems to block/reflect the IR light at night making the monitor too dark to see anything.

> 24 hourThis is the lense that should come with the camera. If you plan to mount the camera over the crib. You want this lense unless you want to mount the camera 6’ up on the wall... With this lense we can see the whole crib with the camera mounted about 1.5’ above the crib rail.

> 24 hourThis is my third baby monitor. I purchased it for my 2 year-olds room. My two previous monitors were Samsung SEW-3043W BrightVIEW HD; the Samsung was fine while it worked but both monitors stopped working after about 1 year of regular use. I chose the Infant Optics monitor for 2 reasons - 1) it does not use wifi (my preference for security reasons), and 2) it has a wide angle lens option (sold separately). The wide angle lens is perfect for a bigger view of the entire room which will be great when trying to keep an eye on an active toddler. I have only had the monitor for two days, but it seems to be working great and was very easy to set up. I hope it is reliable and lasts longer than my previous monitors.
