07-06-2025Bought a couple of these now that my little one is a toddler which called for an additional camera and wider view of their room and the living room/play area. Honestly, Infant Optics should include the standard lens and this one when you buy the baby monitor set instead the zoom lens. You already have the ability to zoom in on the monitor so a dedicated zoom lens is not needed, the wide angle lens however should be standard fare when you initially purchase the camera, or just bump the price up and include all three.

Greater than one weekI was nervous that the night vision would be too poor to make out much since so many reviews seemed to complain about it… but I am sooo glad I bought it! We have the pro so maybe that makes the difference. Wide angle let’s us see where my kiddo is almost anywhere in his room, night vision same quality and regular lense, zoom is a bit blurry but I don’t plan on really using it. Get it! It’s worth the $11!

> 3 dayLook no further...this is the best baby monitor Weve tried. The sound quality is great with no feedback issues, and the picture is clear. I especially like the option of changing camera lenses to fit each room. My son is almost 3 and does not always stay in his bed at nap time, so I like that I can pan the room and see what kind of trouble he may be getting into! Overall Im very satisfied with this monitor. This is our third try (had a Motorola and babies r us prior) and by far the best one! Dont waste time on other monitors, this one is worth every cent!

> 3 dayWe got this so we could have a full view of our toddlers room. It covers about 80% of the room (we put the camera on a corner shelf to get a better viewing angle), so its nice not having to look around the whole room. The video quality is definitely not as good as the regular lens though, and the night vision is pretty bad. I can barely see my daughters outline at night with the brightness turned up, which is unfortunate.

Greater than one weekThis was such a great purchase. I spent most of my night chasing my 12 month old around the crib using the regular lens. Now I can be a paranoid mother easier by just glancing over and seeing where he is and how he is sleeping!

> 3 dayWe didnt initially realize the lens on our camera was interchangeable and were looking at other cameras that had a wider viewing area. The camera continued to pop up on best sellers lists and saw one comment that mentioned purchasing the wider lens. So we gave it a shot, dropped $12 to buy this lens, 100% worth it, EXACTLY what we wanted. We can see the whole room, and didnt have to spend a few hundred on a new camera. Totally worth the investment!

> 3 dayIts good, not amazing. Definitely adds the benefit of being able to see an entire room which is very helpful for the playroom, but it does come with a compromise in quality. Picture isnt very clear (although clear enough), especially when kiddo isnt very close to the lens. Still, a better alternative to the regular lens for our family & Im grateful for the increased perspective.

> 3 dayThe DXR-8 is both a highly rated and highly reviewed product, which is why my wife and I decided to get this model. We love that we can pan the camera, but also how amazingly quiet the panning is. We also like the ability to two-way talk has made life a bit easier from time to time. We also like that if we were to lose internet, our camera would still work, unlike our previous product.

Greater than one weekI like how small and easy this is to attach to the camera. What I found odd was the necessity of having to buy this lens separately. The infant optics camera I bought came with a standard and zoom lens. I would have gladly paid the extra money to just have the camera come with all three. Instead, I had to order this separately, and since it was so small, it had to become and add-on item, and wasnt in stock. I ended up waiting an extra few weeks to receive this. Seems so unnecessary when infant optics could just easily throw this in with the camera and charge an extra ten bucks. The lens works great. I use it to get a wider view of the room. I can see where it wouldnt be an advantage to some, especially for those who use the zoom feature to get a closer look at their baby. Would I buy this again? Probably. I would have liked the option to have it in the bundle though. As for the infant optics camera, I highly recommend it.

> 3 dayI purchased this wide angle lens along with the DXR-8 for my toddlers room. I really like how this lens zooms the camera view out, which allows us a lot of flexibility in placement. The first night we had the camera set up, the night vision turned on but it was very, very dark. We turned the contrast up as much as we could and focused it directly on the crib and we could just barely see our toddler. The second night we moved the camera to a new position and when we turned it on the night vision didnt work. Turned it off, and a couple of hours later we turned it on again and the night vision was back on, but still pretty dim. The third night we moved it again, and the night vision did not work at all. I called Infant Optics and they had no idea. I returned the camera through Amazon and ordered a new one, since the infant Optics representative figured I had a faulty monitor. When I got the new camera and monitor, I quickly plugged it in in my (dark) closet and the night vision worked perfectly! Woohoo! I put the wide angle lens on the new camera and moved it to my toddlers room. Guess what? No night vision! I searched high and low for answers, saw no other complaints from other purchasers of this camera, and had a very hard time figuring it out. Then - an AHA moment. It was this wide angle lens!! Took it off, and the night vision is functioning and perfect. What?? Makes no sense to me.
