I use one of these in the playroom and in the living room so I can check on the kids from time to time. It works really well for this function. The wide angle definitely captures the room better and gives decent night vision. The picture quality is decent, which is actually quite good considering the price point.

I like how small and easy this is to attach to the camera. What I found odd was the necessity of having to buy this lens separately. The infant optics camera I bought came with a standard and zoom lens. I would have gladly paid the extra money to just have the camera come with all three. Instead, I had to order this separately, and since it was so small, it had to become and add-on item, and wasnt in stock. I ended up waiting an extra few weeks to receive this. Seems so unnecessary when infant optics could just easily throw this in with the camera and charge an extra ten bucks. The lens works great. I use it to get a wider view of the room. I can see where it wouldnt be an advantage to some, especially for those who use the zoom feature to get a closer look at their baby. Would I buy this again? Probably. I would have liked the option to have it in the bundle though. As for the infant optics camera, I highly recommend it.

This is my third baby monitor. I purchased it for my 2 year-olds room. My two previous monitors were Samsung SEW-3043W BrightVIEW HD; the Samsung was fine while it worked but both monitors stopped working after about 1 year of regular use. I chose the Infant Optics monitor for 2 reasons - 1) it does not use wifi (my preference for security reasons), and 2) it has a wide angle lens option (sold separately). The wide angle lens is perfect for a bigger view of the entire room which will be great when trying to keep an eye on an active toddler. I have only had the monitor for two days, but it seems to be working great and was very easy to set up. I hope it is reliable and lasts longer than my previous monitors.

This is the lens that Infant Optics should include with the baby monitor from the factory. The viewing angle is much better/wider than the zoom lens or when using just the “hood“ lens. Additionally, infrared night vision is not impaired (at least not for our unit that was purchased around 06/2019).

Got this wide angle lense because I was tired of constantly moving the camera when my daughter was falling asleep. I agree with most reviewers that the quality is not as sharp as other cameras on the market BUT at her age 16 months I just really need to see if she is laying down, or sitting or standing in the crib. PLUS this camera is not in WiFi therefor you sacrifice the image quality but I know that no one will hack it online. So it can use improvement but it does what it’s supposed to do.

It is a wide angle, captures most of the room. The picture quality leaves a lot to be desired.

Bought a couple of these now that my little one is a toddler which called for an additional camera and wider view of their room and the living room/play area. Honestly, Infant Optics should include the standard lens and this one when you buy the baby monitor set instead the zoom lens. You already have the ability to zoom in on the monitor so a dedicated zoom lens is not needed, the wide angle lens however should be standard fare when you initially purchase the camera, or just bump the price up and include all three.

I wish I would have listened to the reviews! I have no idea how this lens gets 5 stars. We just purchased the Infant Optics - DXR-8 PRO & needed a wide angle lens. Upon receiving the lens, we hooked it up with ease & the clarity was like looking through a Motorola Razr Flip Phone from 2005. It’s beyond me how a company that makes a wonderful baby monitor, with up to date technology, is still stuck in the early 2000’s in picture clarity with a simple wide angle lens. And to top it off, the night vision was horrendous- you could see absolutely nothing but a bright white glare. It was like watching TV static. It’s a good thing this lens is only $11, because it’s completely unimpressive & a major let down. I would be embarrassed if I were Infant Optics, producing & putting my name on such a lackluster lens. We just ended up buying a $16 camera mount with a flexible arm that holds the camera above the crib & it solved all of our “wide angle” needs. Please listen to these 1 star reviews…they’re absolutely true!! This product isn’t worth any time or money spent!!

Its a great view of our toddlers room. I love it, but my wife doesnt. She only wants the zoom lens where she can watch him breathing while he sleeps, but I like being able to see him play in his room if were in another part of the house. If you want to see the whole room without sacrificing picture quality, get this lense. If you want a happy wife, buy a second camera in secret and put this lens on it, and let her see the zoom view while you use this...

The DXR-8 is both a highly rated and highly reviewed product, which is why my wife and I decided to get this model. We love that we can pan the camera, but also how amazingly quiet the panning is. We also like the ability to two-way talk has made life a bit easier from time to time. We also like that if we were to lose internet, our camera would still work, unlike our previous product.

Wide Angle Lens captures the entire room, a full 170-degree view. Best for active babies and toddlers – they can play and explore and you can monitor them and their surroundings. Nothing will escape your notice. Mounts on the camera unit of your DXR-8 and alters the image perspective. Requires Infant Optics DXR-8.
