Ive used System Mechanic before and really liked it. But the last update includes PHOENIX 360 which deletes all browser passwords, even when the user unchecks the appropriate boxes to prevent this from happening. I emailed IOLO Dec 25, received a case number from them, then nothing. No response. Called them today, Jan 10. On hold over 25 minutes then the phone line was disconnected. Checked the LA BBB office and see they have many complaints about customer service and the product. Until PHOENIX is fixed, do not use this product. By the way, I cant get anyone to authorize a refund, so I am out some money. Save yours. Dont buy IOLO System Mechanic

Ive had System Mechanic for two years and assumed it was fixing all the things it said it was. However, Ive encountered incredible slowdowns, registry problems and system crashes on my Dell XPS. Now I have experienced problems on the external drive I use for Carbonite Plus Mirror Image Back/Restore (which is really great - restores files + programs + the entire system). Carbonite says they experience this regularly with System Mechanic users as it makes changes to the external drive that renders it inoperable for Carbonite back up use.

I had been using this software on Windows 7 and 8 without problems, but had major crashes on a new Dell desktop with Windows 10. I also found a paucity of restore points as another reviewer and finally I was unable to start Windows at all and had to reinstall the operating system, losing all my software in the process. Since then Ive not reinstalled this program and the computer works fine.

I love SM adn SMP, have had great success with them but they do bug me as they change my screen resolution. I wish it would leave that alone but it is still great.

I use System Mechanic on one computer and Tune Up Utilities on another. They are both good, but I prefer Tune Up Utilities.

I have been using System Mechanic for 10 years, and it has been pretty good. Recently Iolo has become update-happy (it did two in quick succession today, each time finding problems that were missed earlier - or pretending to). It tells me I have 4 cores in the CPU (LiveBoost, Realtime Status) but Intel specifies that the processor has only 2 cores. 4 threads but 2 cores. I believe Intel. This does not enhance my confidence in System Mechanic. If it cannot accurately detect the CPU, what else is it missing?

Watch out for your $$$!! Basic System Mechanic at $39.95 has a surprise ongoing billing of $19.95/mo for tech support - so you are signing up to spend over $259/yr. It also has continual pop-ups to sell you anti-virus (even though I use Norton), VPN and ID protection add-ons plus it tries to get you to add tech support even though its already there. The software does work to clean memory, etc. but BE AWARE of their efforts to get more of your $$$.
