iolo - System Mechanic Pro, Computer Cleaner for Windows, Blocks Viruses and Spyware, Restores System Speed, Software License

Although I had to run it several times it actually worked as advertised and fixed the viruses and allowed my laptop to work again. Customer service although foreign, was knowledgeable and helpful except I didnt like that they tried to sell you an upgraded version you do not need.

The current version of the kasperskey anti-virus (November 2014) has a SERIOUS problem and will render your computer useless. This is a known issue and reported on their customer help page. The virus program thinks the file RPCSS.DLL is a trojan and dutifully deletes it. There goes any chance of booting Windows again. They will ship you a fix-it CD for free however before you figure this out you would have already re-installed Windows. On the 2nd or 3rd time you have re-installed Windows you would figure out that the virus program from System Mechanic was the cause of the problem in the first place. A fun thing too is that it runs the virus scan in the background. Once you think you have a nice stable system after re-installing everything systematically it will come up and kill you on a reboot at some time in the future. Thank you very much. IOLO SHOULD HAVE CONTACTED ALL USERS TO DISABLE THE VIRUS PROGRAM AS SOON AS THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE. Many many hours were wasted on this. The automatic update for the virus database one day just decided to trash the PC. For searchers looking for a solution, PROBLEM: Windows boots with a black screen and only a mouse pointer.

Product has no customer support that is of any use to anyone. I installed it into 1, ONE laptop. My owner, then would not install into mine. It would not take the activation number and was supposed to be for multiple use. The Customer Service does not respond on their website and the instant chat only works if you bought the product from one of there Approved Sellers what I was told..???? The instant chat, was on there site too. A total waste of time on that one. While I have used this product for years and years.. I WOULD NEVER, NEVER WASTE ANOTHER DIME ON THESE FOLKS. I have since went to Avast on one laptop, avira on another, without this nonsense and have no issues at all.

I have been using System Mechanic for 10 years, and it has been pretty good. Recently Iolo has become update-happy (it did two in quick succession today, each time finding problems that were missed earlier - or pretending to). It tells me I have 4 cores in the CPU (LiveBoost, Realtime Status) but Intel specifies that the processor has only 2 cores. 4 threads but 2 cores. I believe Intel. This does not enhance my confidence in System Mechanic. If it cannot accurately detect the CPU, what else is it missing?

The concept I was told it would do is continually scan and pick up on adware, spam, etc. which it DID NOT! It ignored some stuff that I had to get a tech to clean out, ads were continually allowed to flash when I was doing something else. It didnt have clear enough instructions of installation for (63 yr. old) me. It did not fix anything that I can think of.

The parent company was recently bought by another company and the product went to $#@&. You have to call them to activate and they want to take control of your pc. This is a clear scam warning sign. I wouldnt do it.

First off.. ATTENTION ALL WHO ARE NOT VERY TECH SAVVY.. IF YOU BUY THIS PRODUCT IT HAS ITS OWN VIRUS PROTECTION AND FIREWALL.. YOU MUST DO A CUSTOM INSTALL AND UN-CLICK THE VIRUS/FIREWALL SO IT DOES NOT INSTALL.. IF YOU INSTALL THEM IT MAY CONFLICT WITH YOUR CURRENT VIRUS/FIREWALL SOFTWARE!! To me all the complainers on here that said it caused their computers to freeze or not work is primarily due to the reason I just stated. I have had no issues with this product, it works awesome. It is way better than the product I had before this, and keeps my computer running at peak performance always. It has a lot of bells and whistles so take the time to open all the tabs and set it up the way you want so you get the full benefit out of it and you will be as happy as I am with it. Also, the price is very low for the quality and the best part is when you register the product with IOLO it will immediately update this to its most recent release (version 12) at no extra charge.. A version I might add that the company sells on their website for $60, almost 2x the price you pay here.. Highly recommended!!

First of all, there are a lot of extremely positive reviews about this product and a lot of very negative ones as well. In a sense, both sides are correct. After having used System Mechanic Pro off and on for the past 5 years or so, Ive come to find that the trick to getting the software to operate at its fullest potential is to never take the softwares recommendation on how to automatically fix things for granted. Running a system check and then letting the software automatically fix everything is just asking for trouble. This is especially true when it comes to repairing the registry. I have had way too many experiences where System Mechanic Pro completely FUBARd my computer because I was dumb enough to let it automatically fix hundreds of alleged registry problems when my PC had been running just fine in the first place.
