I’ve always had one of these since I’m all around Tech and when toning or troubleshooting a single line this makes your life a lot easier. But I just got one on August 20th and it’s already broken. I’m guessing most likely the speaker but it didn’t even make it to three months. He’ll it didn’t even give me a chance to loose it, which is what happened to my previous ones. Just sucks that it didn’t even lasted at all. But good tool to have.

This is a handy tool to have. It allows you to tone out to find the right cable terminus, and it alert of a short. Sure, you can use a multi-meter to verify a short free cable run, but this is just more convenient. It can be easier than you think to accidentally miss a thin strand of coax shielding that has not been properly folded back and could short to the center conductor. I always test my terminations prior to putting a cable into use. This tool helps make it extra easy.

My multiple unit Ham Radio/Scanner bench grew radio by radio until the cables in the rear became a real mess. Access to the cables is done by laying on my back and working up into a wiring space behind the bench with a headlamp. Most of the time was spent pulling/locating cables and expanding my cussing vocabulary.

Great toner! I work as a technician for Spectrum so I use this daily. Ive purchased at least 4 other toners before this one and this is by far my favorite. It lights up to tell me if there is a short or splitter connected. The piece that makes the sound screws into the bottom so its darn near impossible to lose if you put it back as soon as youre done (my biggest problem is always losing the pieces). Another issue Ive had is false positives from other toners, theyll say that the line I am choosing is correct but its not. This one doesnt have that problem at all. It emits a high pitch beep when you find the line. I only wish there was a way to do more than one line at a time, you have to move it per line. But thats not too big of an issue. Id definitely purchase this again :)

I work as a technican for xfinity, and use this tool every day. I lose them all the time. Have a backstock of 5 all the time in my van. Seriously, works great. I use it reverse of how most people use it, and it still saves me a Crap load of time. Simple to use. Plug the wand portion into the wall outlet you are working with, go back to wiring hub with bell piece (bottom) and tone out your line. Have tried the klien coax mapper, doesnt work as well. This one can confuse you though, as it does not work through splitters. So, if it isnt toning out there is a break in the line or a splitter somewhere. The klien one does work through splitters, so I keep one of each in my toolbag. This one is my first choice for most applications!

Purchased this tool to test various cables around my home. It works very well identifying rach cable and their working condition.

I used this continuity tester to identify coax endpoints in a MoCA adapter installation. It worked immediately and without surprises. It was crucial to perform the installation.
