This handy mat protected my desk from a 400 degree soldering iron for hours. It made direct contact with the mat with no issues. It did not, however, withstand my using an exacto knife to cut stuff on it haha. So, just dont slice the thing to bits. It is silicone!

If you dont have a soldering area set up already this is easy to roll out and not damage anything while youre doing your thing. There are plenty of little place to organize screws if youre taking something apart. Its just very handy.

Really great silicone mat! Comes with many raised compartments for screws many of which have built in magnets to keep them from flying away. Built in ruler with both inches and centimeters. Has bit driver holder for quick access. Large enough for laptop repairs and 17” monitors with plenty of space around it. It does insulate from heat but it is silicone so you should not use real flames. Roll it up and put it away, roll it out and let the surgery begin

Purchased this mat to use for an RC kit build. The compartments are perfect for containing the parts from each kit bag, especially small diff gears, shims and set screws. It’s really helpful for each step to set out the parts as you go and keep track of what hardware has been used and is left over. The silicone does have a little bit of a funky foot smell but goes away in a day or two. I didn’t try out any soldering with it so can’t comment on the heat resistance. This should be a nice addition to my workbench for all types of projects.

Works great to protect my surfaces while doing heat projects like soldering iron, wood burning tool, and hot glue gun. Size is adequate for one person and stores easily. Smell was not really a problem like other reviews warned. Slight plastic odor was gone by the end of the first use.

As said as advertized its a dream it works out great for me now i ddont have to worry about burning my work station/table it soaks up that heat & easy to clean off all that extra flux as well.

I love this mat. Its got lots of little spaces for placing screws and components and can take the heat of the iron. At first I thought it was scorching and discoloring, but after wiping it down with isopropyl, I noticed it was just flux. It looked good as new afterward.
