No splatter, easy flow, cools right... connections are always solid. Great stuff!

I was previously using some pretty cheap-o solder and had such a tough time figuring out why my projects kept failing that I decided to give this well-lauded Kester brand a try. The difference was really night and day! The Kester solder flows amazingly well, and Ive had to do no rework due to mysteriously failing connections like with my old solder. Dont cheap out, buy this stuff.

This is a good choice for your basic home electronics soldering work unless you need to be RoHS compliant. The eutectic tin/lead ratio is the easiest to use.

... and kind of amazed too. I mean, its 37% lead. About five ounces of lead per roll. That snaps off into little hanks that are just the right size for two and four legged friends to pick up and chew on. ROHS solder is a more sensible, safer option no doubt, but it just feels wrong to use Euro-weenie stuff on electronics made in an era when techs stuck the solder in their mouth for a third hand and made cheater plugs with alligator plugs, washed down with unfiltered Chesterfield breaks.

This solder is very easy to work with, but to make it No-Clean as advertised, they use much less flux than regular solder. What this means is after you apply the solder for the first time, the small amount of flux dissipates, and youre left with dry solder thats very stringy and hard to work with, and youll need to apply your own flux to work with it again. That said, as long as you dont need to fix anything, this is still a very nice solder to work with.

    GREAT FLOW AND GREAT DEAL.

I regret learning to solder with other sub-par leaded solders. This size (20AWG) has worked well for me for small electronics pads (e.g. flight controllers) and associated higher-gauge wiring, as well as more substantial pads (e.g. electronic speed controllers) with wire gauges occasionally dipping to 8AWG without any issue. When using the right flux, and only when needed, you cant go wrong with this solder unless you need a lead-free variant.

Its fine. It does what good solder should do.

I dont know if I am overheating or under heating but this stuff is supposed to activate similar to RMA. It is not. I have not adjusted my settings from when I was using Indium 53563-0454 (which I thought should be similar) and these two solders are worlds apart. I had to check the label to make sure it was 245 because it literally behaves like flux free solder. I have no better way to describe it. I bought this on the off chance it would be a good alternative. The solder balls up, dries out, and SMD components are literally popping off. Same settings as my last solder., check the spec sheets they should work the same as far as I can tell. I am assuming the rosin is burning off too quickly or I got a bad batch. Regardless, I wouldnt buy again. I gave this two stars because it still may have a practical use when using additional flux but that kind of removes the selling point of rosin cored solder. Alternatively, I could be making some error but I am going back to Indium.
