Great way to make a PC run much faster. Note this particular one has less capacity than most regular hard drives, but thats fine for this computer that isnt used to store stuff.

For most people, you intend to use this to replace a primary Hard Disk Drive (HDD) in your computer. In order to do that task, you need a (1) a SSD, (2) a adapter cable or HDD enclosure to connect this to a computer, (3) Software to copy your current system over to the new SSD. Im not an expert, but have accomplished this swap three times with SSDs from both Samsung and Intel. Both of those other companies provided the software themselves (free) and it worked. Kingston is being cheap, and points you towards other companies software that should work. Beyond being a pain to go find third party software, the software packages they recommended are No Longer Free! At them moment, I cant find non-paid options, so I am going to go by another Samsung SSD instead.

Extremely nice extremely speedy little hard drive for the money. Of course its not top of the line, but for the price it is worth the buy. I have two of them running as boot drives on Raspberry Pi 4s, a 4 gig and an 8 gig, and theyre as fast as most desktops youll find.

when my laptop cried for speed. i gave it the speed it needs . dump the spinning hdd and plugged in this piece of plastic my laptop found the fountain of youth

Edited review: My replacement works just as intended. Installation was easy, formatting on my PC was a breeze, and it’s worked like a charm. Originally I wanted to move my OS onto it, but I decided it would be less hassle to just move my he applications/games I use most onto it since there’s limited space anyway, which is just enough for what I need. Definitely improved my PC’s performance and I’m happy with it.
