> 3 dayI plug it into my Microsoft surface pro 4 and it work okay, I used it to load my old disks I own of Microsoft office and student 2007. I also loaded outlook 2007.. They loaded and work fine. I did not want to use the latest version of Office and Outlook App because it cost about 100 dollars or more a year to lease them fro microsoft. These work fine So this external drive paid for itself allowing me to load office and outlook, the instruction are on a sheet that is full size and is readable without a magnified glass. the device is very small, light weight and well built.. The disk that comes with the dvd disk with is a program called Media Suite 10.by Cyberlink but its not the full version it includes Power2go ,Labelprint2.5 ,Powerbackup 2.0 and Youcam 5.0. I used my desktop to load these programs. you need this external drive to load them. They loaded okay but I did not spend the time to play with these programs. I dont really need them but I will check them out and see if I have a future use for them.

> 3 dayDropped my last one and tried to get LG Tech Support to help me replace it because it was still under warranty. Nope, tech support was less than helpful, so I just bought another. Great device since most laptops DO NOT HAVE CD/DVD players. Needed it to look at x-rays of a broken finger that may have been made worse by the hospital.

> 3 dayI use this for my macbook and it works great Ive also used it on my windows pc just to see if it would work and it did. it is made out of plastic but it works great and it makes it light weight. I can burn/play dvd-/+r and cd-/+r with this. you dont need a power cord for this because it powers through the usb cable. i feel like this works just as good as the one they sell at apple but cost less its also name brand. it says its tv compatible but will not work on my samsung tv. it takes the mini B usb and comes with a 6 inch cord it is short but most people of a ton of these laying around so you can replace it with a longer one.

> 3 dayMy sons hard drive crashed on his recently (~1 year old) built gaming computer. To save space, minimize power consumption and heat production we decided to go with a Memo**x external drive (of course he had to have it right away and we payed out the wazoo at a box store for it). We loaded the OS, put the drive away and had ~ a year of play time. Fast forward to Feb and his hard drive crashes. No big deal we buy a new HD, hook up the Memo**x drive and .........., nothing, other than some lights and sounds of a DVD drive failing, nothing. This time we decided to look on Amazon for a more cost effective alternative and came across the 20 something dollar drive, plugged it in and it immediately did what we needed it to do. We boxed it up, put the computer back together and got back to business. Hmmmm, I started thinking.....I wonder if it will work twice (unlike the Memo**x), pulled it out of the box, plugged it in and YES!!!!!!! it worked.

> 3 dayI bought this DVD writer to play DVDs on my new laptop. The reasoning for buying this LG writer was for something easy to set-up and easy to use. This product did accomplish the easy set-up: only a USB cord is needed to hook the writer into the laptop, and there is only one button on the player. I could not actually get the writer to play a DVD on my computer. Lack of a quality media player on my laptop may be the case, though it would be helpful if the writer had troubleshooting tips about that problem. When I first received the product, I proceeded to read the directions and started up the program with the CD rom attached. The program is intended for the other purposes of the writer such as copying, it does not actually assist with playing DVDs. I tried several different movies but nothing would just begin automatically playing via the writer. Some other reviewers for this product seemed to have a similar experience with the DVDs not playing. A solution to this problem could be the company including a program on the set-up CD to actually play DVDs on laptops. • Product is not user friendly: This is not a product that is easy to understand the purpose or how it properly works. Trouble-shooting in the directions would be helpful for when it does not automatically play a DVD as I was expecting it would (easily) accomplish. • Pro: Slim small product, easy to hook-up. • Con: Have not gotten the product to play a DVD on my laptop yet.

> 3 dayLG Electronics USB Ultra Slim Portable DVD Rewriter, External Drive with M-DISC Support If you find yourself with a Macbook Air and a sudden need for a CD drive, look no further. I purchased one, thinking I wouldn’t miss the CD drive. As it turns out, I almost immediately found out one of my classes required the use of a program that came with the textbook for the class. Looking for a solution, I turned to Amazon. Enter the LG Electronics External Ultra Slim Portable DVD Rewriter! It fits into the USB drive on any device (the Air has plenty of those), and takes very little setup. I was able to use the device without any trouble to play any disc, and it worked great. The drive does have some potential downsides. While some reviews say it’s very quiet, you may notice it makes a whirring noise when in use. The noise is minor, and may only be distracting when it’s being used to play a movie. If you should find it annoying, a simple solution would be to set something on the player, which eliminates the noise completely. If you’re worried about the physical space taken up by the drive, it can be somewhat inconvenient. But for what it is, the space is minimal, especially compared to similar products. The USB cord isn’t very long at just over a foot, but judging from other reviews, this is also better than other products. Plus, given how slim the device is (only half an inch tall), this all allows for easy storage. I haven’t found a need for an especially long cord, so it hasn’t really posed a problem. Aside from the mild potential drawbacks the external drive has, it performs excellently and I’ve never had a problem with it. It also has a very low cost, which once again is better than many of the alternatives. I would highly recommend it. By the way, I ended up with two of these, so I sent one to my parents, who also had a computer without a CD drive. They haven’t had any problems with it, and say it works great.
