> 3 dayAfter much research, I ended up buying this monitor graphic design. I watched a ton of videos and read so many reviews. Nothing seemed perfect...as what I really want is my old Apple Cinema 27 cinema display! (Ive been through 2 of those and both didnt work well with my new MacBook pro. The connection wasnt reliable and the screen would blackout. I got rid of both of them and decided I needed to move on.) This monitor was really the only one I could stomach from an aesthetic point of view, but I was worried because I read about some of the color issues in the reviews. I was looking to spend under $500. The Dells are highly rated, but they were more expensive and not as nice looking. Onward to my experience and addressing some of the issues I saw in the reviews: 1) Some reviewers said the stand is flimsy. Its not as great or solid as the mac stand, but its fine and sturdy enough. No issues here. 2) One reviewer mentioned that her display was tilted a bit and she couldnt get it straight. Mine was tilted a bit, but just put a little muscle into it and got it straight no problem. 3) The font on the display was way too large. I found a setting in systems preferences to make it smaller, looks normal and crisp now. 4) A few mentioned that the color is off, they are too bright and saturated, almost neon. I did experience this. In order to fix it, I did as some reviewers recommended and turned off the High Dynamic Range setting in the display preferences. 5) Also, It was confusing when I first plugged in the display. A menu associated with the display (so not controlled by my mac) was asking me to select ok. Without my cursor from the mac, I couldnt do this. That is when I discovered the important power switch and setting switch on the monitor under the LG logo. The controls on this switch are very clunky, but after spending about 15 minutes with it I could see where I can adjust the brightness and some other settings. 6) This monitor comes with speakers, but you cant control the sound from your macbook pro. Since Im using this at home for work, I was frustrated when I wanted to listen to a podcast and the sound came in through the display too loud. There is an adjustment with the settings under the LG logo on the display, but thats a hassle. So I went into system preferences on my Mac and changed the setting back to MacBook Pro Speakers, so now the sound is coming through my MacBook and I can easily adjust the sound. So if you are like me and using this for work/design, you might as well save some money and get the version without speakers. So the bottom line is it took about an hour to fiddle with settings until I got a good-looking image that matches my MacBook Pro. I just got the monitor today, so Ill add to this review if I come across any issues. (I dont add to this it means that I like the monitor and its working fine for my needs as a graphic designer.)

> 3 dayUpdate 8/16/2021: one display has developed two vertical lines of dead pixels after less than a week of use. This was a Warehouse returns, so the fault lies more with Amazon than LG. I purchased a pair of these 27UN850-W displays, and they perform as you would expect from a mid-range IPS display, good color accuracy, wide viewing angle, and no dead pixels on either. For productivity work, these are perfect. 60hz refresh rate isnt going to cut it for high-end gaming although Freesync will help there. Color accuracy isnt going to be sufficient for professional design and video editing. Certified for HDR400, but know that this definitely HDR-light, if you HDR is important to you, look elsewhere. Didnt try the monitor stand, but VESA mounting worked as it should. Left, right, and top margins are about 1/4 so for multi-monitor setups you will have about 1/2 boundary between workspaces. For dual monitor work scenario for documents, GIS, code, and the like, flat panels with a wide viewing angle like these are quite good. For me, these were an excellent value from Amazon Warehouse (Used - Acceptable), where these like-new displays that are missing bonus materials cost under $300. At MSRP of $450, these are a fair price.

Greater than one weekThe picture quality is excellent. However, I tried to daisychain this to another monitor and couldnt get it to work. I wish LG had better instructions regarding this. In general, the menu buttons and design could use improvement. Over all, Im sort of happy with it.

Greater than one weekThis is by far my favorite monitor for my Macbook Air M1 2020. I love the colors right out of the box. I actually enjoy looking at this monitor more than looking at the screen on my Mac. The letters are so sharp and the colors vibrant. For the price, you are getting a high-quality monitor that makes the perfect friend for your Mac. I use Illustrator and Photoshop a lot and this monitor makes me stay focused on designing and be more creative. I highly recommend it.

> 3 dayThis is a decent monitor for light use. I dont use it for gaming, and I dont use it for high production creative work, where color exactness is really important. But for everyday tasks, such as zoom meetings and email and such, it is very nice and works well. My only complaint with the design is that the stand sticks out too much for my liking. The total footprint of the monitor is about 9 deep, and the stand sticks out about 4 in front of the monitor. I remember when I bought the monitor, I read some reviews that said the built in speakers are ok. They are not. They are as terrible as you would imagine them to be. Also I remember reading that people did not like the nipple that you use to set the ports on the monitor and control other settings. I have not had any problems with that interface. It seems easy enough to me, even if its slightly annoying.

10-04-2025I researched several monitors to pair with my new M2 Mac Mini and chose this one. Very happy with it just as it came out of the box. Disclosure: Ive not tried tweaking the picture at all. There is a comprehensive manual that I have merely glanced at. Just out of the box this is simply great.

> 3 dayThis is a great looking display with fantastic color accuracy. It looks nice side by side with apple displays. The built in speakers are acctually pretty usable (laptop quality sound). The included stand is excellent quality. The Included USB C cable did not work with my m1 Mac. I Solved this by purchasing, a certified thunderbolt4 cable. This display seems to require a proper thunderbolt cable to work with m1 Macs. A usb c cable wont work. I am using in a dual monitor configuration with the secondary display from another brand connected via HDMI. Sometimes the LG display doesnt wake up. I deal with it by hitting esc key, to put the machine back to sleep and wake it up again. Id probably blame apple for the thunderbolt issues, so I am going to stick with 5 stars. This is a nice entry to a pro quality 4k display at the price point.

> 3 dayI purchased this after returning the Samsung M80B as it gave me a headache. This thing had perfect color (for my needs at least) out of the box. Pros: Easy to set up Tons of connections options Stand has the perfect tension for going up and down Picture looks great even if the blacks cannot get as dark as a VA panel Very easy on the eyes Cons: I dont like the control button placement on the bottom. I have a controller that I have to move every time I need to get to it Contrast is not quite as rich as the Samsung VA panel I returned Not a native resolution to my Mac Studio although I dont have the wallet for the 5k version

> 3 dayRunning this on a Macbook Air 2018. Its great, once its configured at a proper resolution -- almost as good a screen as the Airs own Retina. Has a matte finish, but thats no issue to me. Displays text and graphics quite sharply. The only drawback is that I also tested it with a 2014 Mac Mini, and for that there is simply no adequate resolution that looks good, even via the utility SwitchResX which is my go-to in such cases. But with modern hardware I wouldnt think anybody would have cause for complaint, and I certainly like both the USB-C cable for delivering power to my laptop and the extra ports on the back, including two USB-3 ports I use for things like external drives. Highly recced. You wont likely be sorry.
